“I agree with Jez. It's hard to pick just one.”

Rusty cogs turn as Eadie searches her memory. “I went on a pub crawl disguised as a robbery investigation once. After we got kicked out of Ol’ Deadeye’s Brewhouse, my sister Lore and I did some window shopping at Belker, JC Copper and Handy Haversack’s Fifth Avenue, but the boys got bored so we left.”

“As we left the shop, two dudes set their dog on us, so we killed them. Someone called the Watch, and we bravely ran away.”

“Then we followed an invisible twin to a warehouse, where our barbarian fell in love with the evil mastermind behind everything. She ended up falling at his feet – after a bit of friendly persuasion.”

“Then they got married! I was bridesmaid. Lore did the service.”

“The bride told us she was going to have a baby boy, and she was gonna name him Lorne – after my big sister or Eddie, after me!”

Eadie smiles at the memory. "'Twas pretty fun."

He seems utterly delighted at the tales. The dockside area of the Fleshward is littered with seedy inns and rundown taverns, catering to city’s rough, downtrodden, and undesirables. The Silver Lining stands out as a cut above these other establishments. Not one of its windows is broken, its door sits square on well-fitted hinges, and its front sign proudly displays a fresh coat of paint. The patrons within are a quiet lot, mostly dwarves, and a few humans. A dwarven woman tends bar, where she does a brisk business in porters and stouts. After closing the door behind you, he runs up to the counter, regaling the bartender with an obviously exaggerated tale of how you came to his rescue.

His mind still filled with the intricacies of trade, Desmond steps into the inn. He speaks in a hush to the others.

"How should we approach this situation? We have the letters of introduction, but I sense that we must still be delicate about it."

At Desmond’s words, Eadie interrupts her rapid gesticulating at Dr Strang and then the corner of the taproom behind a grimy, gap-toothed dwarf smelling strongly of tar.

“Kkkkkkk…” She agrees vaguely, before her wide, staring eyes turn in Jezabel's direction.

Mohok grunts in satisfaction as things go as planned with the ruffians, and he engulfs the young dwarf's hand in a beefy mitt as he shakes hands and introduces himself. "Glad we could help, looks like you're learning a thing or two about taking a beating. Sure helped me to become an adventurer."

He chuckles at the adventure stories told by the other Pathfinders as they approach the Silver Lining, unsure whether the lad would be interested or horrified by stories of companions carried off by harpies, and decides to hold his tongue. Not sure I'd really call that the best adventure anyway.

Once inside, he replies as quietly as he's able to Desmond, saying, "We've got the best introduction we could ask for, her little nephew saying we saved him. Let's just go introduce ourselves while the lad is telling her the tale."

Dr. Strang nods at Mohok's approach. "Seems simplest." He agrees.

"Though perhaps keep an eye out for overly interested third parties, and keep the Society out of things for now."

Strang follows Andar over to where he starts to talk excitedly with his Aunt.

"Greetings madame, we have traveled a fair distance to make your acquaintance."

He smiles at Andor. "Assisting your nephew here en route, was just a bonus."

"Oh, that reminds me." He fishes out the ointment that the gnome apothecary provided. [b]"Mr. Bindergorrp sends his regards, and asked that we deliver this." He frowns slightly at the bottle, before handing it over. "Though if you're having issues with your feet, perhaps I could be of service?"

He bows slightly and introduces himself, "Doctor Menes Strang."

I'm assuming we'll need to make a Diplomacy roll?

"The high priestess at the Cathedral told us where to find you, Brissa Klygvauther. Spoke quite highly of your business model."

His brow furrows slightly. "I think. She spoke about a lot of things."

He glances back towards Desmond. "She gave us a note of introduction."

I think Desmond has the note anyway =)

"Is there somewhere more private we could perhaps talk?" He asks quietly, glancing around. "This city has its darker influences, many of who have ears too eager to listen in."

"Maybe have a look at that foot of yours." He adds, in a more normal volume.

Technically you need to make several diplomacy rolls, but with the letter of introduction, Bindergorrp's vial, and her nephew's prattling on about how you guys are awesome, the DC is down to 15. Possibly 10 for some of you, but I stopped counting. Both you and Desmond cannot possibly fail that check so I wasn't even going to ask unless you say something really offensive. Just going through the roleplay.

"Ah, don't worry, me foot is fine. Just a bit o' gout, will clear up if I lay off o'the ale for a few days."

She leans in closer and lowers her voice. "I know this place is watched... but these folk here now are clean as th'can be. What is it that you're looking for that you think I of all people can help with?"

LN Cleric 3/Wizard 1/Mystic Theurge 10

"Ah, certainly reducing the alcohol intake will help. Though seems a cruel thing to ask a daughter of Jormurdun." Strang responds with a knowing smile.

"Has taken a fair bit of research, but it all tells us that you are the descendant of one of the princes of that very Sky Citadel, only recently rediscovered by our organization and even more recently liberated by joint efforts in the war to the north.

"We are trying to track an artifact once kept there, before the place was lost to the Worldwound, and are hoping that it made its way here with your great grandsire."

He goes about trying to describe what the Sky Key piece they are looking for, looks like. In case she was not aware of what it was.

Grand Lodge

GM

Her tone gets more hushed and even a bit angry. "Even if I had any information about what you're huntin for, why would I tell you? A bunch of vagabonds hunting for artifacts to stick on a shelf in a museum somewhere? Don't ye go tellin me what the sky key looks like... I'll bet you've never seen one yerself... just recountin a description from some looter's handbook."

“Fine! Fine! I’ll tell you!” Ingret grumpily exclaims. “Just give me a moment to clear out the bar.” She puts her fingers to her mouth and blows a shrill whistle to get her patrons’ attention. “Out!” she barks. In moments, the tavern is empty of all other souls. Ingret looks around meaningfully, and after a long pause she reaches under the bar and comes up with a small chest. With a key from under her apron, she unlocks the chest, removes the contents—a small, worn, leather-bound journal—and hands it over.

“There it is,” she says. “It’s my great-grandpapa’s journal. He went looking for the heirloom that came from Jormurdun, carried here by our honored ancestor Prince Toggrim. I remember as a child sitting on great-grandpapa’s lap hearing him spin tales about going down to that ruin to see with his own eyes where our Toggrim hid that piece of the Sky Key. It’s all there in that journal. A map’s there, too, I think.”

Suddenly, the front door of the Silver Lining explodes inward in a blast of concussive force. From outside the cloud of dust and splinters, a thin, nasally voice calls out, “Jor! Jor! I know you’re in there. The League is done playing games. Surrender your secrets or die with them!”

Through the splintered remains of the door you can see what appears to be a pair of high ranking Technic League officials, accompanied by a hulking metal monstrosity, and a pair of low grade thugs who don't look to thrilled to have been dragged into this mess.

DM Debug - for future reference, Mohok's favored terrain (urban) should give him a +4 to initiative here in Chesed. I don't think it would have made a difference in this fight, especially given Combat Reflexes, but I wanted to point it out.

Mohok grunts in surprise as the whip lashes out and drops him to the ground. "Hnn. Didn't see that coming..." he mutters before climbing to his feet once again. Fortunately, he gets up quickly enough to dodge the mechanical man's spear, and decides it's time to return the favor. His sky-metal blade flashes one, twice, striking the construct hard, as Mohok uses his instinct for fighting such creatures to do devastating damage to the thing!

I'll go with your assumption, that I used my standard action last round to get to my feet. Full attack on the red gearsman this round.

Mohok:
You don't know what kind this is, but it is certainly a robot. You know the telltale markings of a robot. Particularly how they die. Technophobe certainly applies against the gearsman... which matters very little in this case...

Mohok makes very quick work of the mechanical beast. It doesn't even stand a chance against the onslaught and sparks fly as the adamantine blade cuts clean through it's armored shell.

Jezebel's shots continue to chip away at the Technic League officer's enhanced defenses and he begins coughing up blood as his wounds accumulate. But still he fights on...

His slaves seem more afraid of him than they are of you, but are frankly so inept at their job that you aren't sure their help would really turn the tide anyways.

The commander whips out with his lash as Desmond closes in on him, but catches the doorframe instead of the Ifrit. Dr. Strang frowns, as the fight seems to work its way outside.

Finally, he says a few arcane words and beckons towards the League leader with one hand.

Ok, casting Pilfering Hand on the leader, to try to steal his whip, so he won't be tripping everyone trying to get out the door.

He then moves over towards Eadie.

Quiven easily tumbles through the doorway, but the sorceress's blurred outline makes it impossible to target a vital spot. Nevertheless, landing a haphazard gash is easy enough with her lack of attention.

Having been slashed at, the sorceress turns in the general direction and blindly lashes out at Quiven.
