Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan follows Justin over and winces as he makes his declaration, "Next lesson, Paladin, is realizing thems that can help themselves."
He takes another sip of his stout, winces and puts the mug down and steps away from it, "How can it smell like beer but taste like goblin piss?", he mutters.
He then looks back up and says, "I'd wager your read of those four is apt. We're looking to have a wee chat with them in a bit, but it can wait 'til after your game. But go easy on the lizard, he's the trusting sort.... So much so that I think he believes you're still talking about steel."
Kilthan smiles and pauses, then nods his head in greeting to the strangers, "Well met."
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"Of course they were talking about steel, and I politely overlooked the insult that I hadn't used my weapons much because Auric here thought I was trying for his mate. It is quite a natural reaction amongst humans. Kilthan, you may want in on this dagger throwing game. I bet we are equally matched."
Justin prepares to throw at the first ring to get things started.
-2 for 25 ft I think 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 2 = 11
GM Blood |
Auric says to Justin, "You misunderstand. Tirra and I are only traveling companions. She joined Khellek and me on our exploration of Stirgenest Cairn."
Its is a -2 for range, but you need to use your Dex modifier to throw which would be a +2 bonus instead of +6
Justin's throw sails wide. Tirra smiles and steps up and throws gracefully hitting the exact spot she no doubt was aiming for. She looks Dryn'taka up and down and says, "Your turn"
Tirra's Throw: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 27
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
Dryn takes the dagger and steps up to throw the dagger. "All right here goes nothin'!" She watches as the dagger sails and manages to strike the target. "GOTCHA! You're up next, looks like." Dryn gives Tirra a toothy smile.
1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 2 = 12
GM Blood |
Being closer to Dryn'taka, Tirra realizes her unusual nature for the first time. Aiming for the inner ring, Tirra gives a toss and it sails wide, her eyes still on Dryn'taka. "Don't miss dear, or else this round starts again, and I promise I won't give you another chance like this"
Tirra's Throw: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 = 9
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan shakes his head at the Paladin with a smile, Poor lad. But then, I think his sort lays eggs, so that probably explains most of it... "I'd rather throw axes, but I suppose if it's all in sport..."
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
"But if I miss we get to play again, right? This is fun!" Dryn pulls back the dagger, considers for a brief moment about missing, then decides against it, it wouldn't be fun to lose on purpose. She lets the dagger fly, watching as it strikes the target. "Yay, I win!" She jumps in excitement.
1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 2 = 19
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan smiles, "Well done, Dryn! I'd buy you a beer to celebrate, but I like you too much."
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
"Sure, I'll play again!" Dryn takes up the dagger for the new round, giving Kilthan a smile as she does. "Can't take much worse than some of the bad potions I've mixed." She turns and quickly lets the dagger fly, a little too quick as it misses it's target. She let's out a curse in Infernal as she turns back to Tirra. "Well your turn. Good luck!"
1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
"Nice throw! All right, third time's the charm." Dryn pulls out another silver coin, then gives the dagger a throw. Not as bad as the last throw, but still a miss. "Hmm, should've asked Desna for some help, right Rohara?" she gives another smile as Tirra takes her shot.
1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 2 = 6
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"Nice throws, ladies. We know Kilthan and I should stick to throwing hammers, axes, and tridents. How did things go in the Stirgenest Cairn? I hope you don't say we were suprised by a bunch of stirges, who would have thought there would be stirges in Stirgenest Cairn?"
Justin tends to deliver his punchlines with a straight face.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says with only a slight growl, "But dangerous hobbies are so much more fun."
GM Blood |
Auric shakes his head, "Well good luck with that. Tirra and I have an early morning. Lets head out Tirra and stop by Lazare's to pick up Khellek."
Tirra picks up her things throwing the house dagger for the last time into the target. As she leaves she winks at Dryn'taka and says, "Keep it up, you show some promise." The two of them then leave the Feral Dog.
Kullen and his crew are still hanging around drinking. What will be your plan for them? Its probably about 10pm right now. Word is they usually stay well past midnight to sometimes 3am.
Dryn'taka Devilschild |
"We'll have to play again!" Assuming the group has a table, "Well, how do we want to do this. I didn't win us a bunch of money and starting trouble with 'em in here is likely to get expensive. We could try following them, or catch one alone and drag 'em in an alley. Oh, but dragging people into alley's to beat 'em up isn't very Justin like, is it? So back to go over and start us a ruckus? I'll try not to burn the place down!"
Kilthan Hammerstone |
"I'd say we turn their pack against hi'em, or at least enough that they keep out of it."
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"I like challenging the entire group with a bold front on their way home. We make it clear we want answers from Kullen, the others may not want to stay."
Justin smiles at Dryn, "These people aren't bad enough to drag them into a dark alley and work them over. And, more importantly Dryn, you are too good to do it too."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan offers, "If that's the play, Justin, it may be worth naming their crimes -- folk who follow men may not want to follow defilers."
GM Blood |
4d20 ⇒ (15, 11, 7, 6) = 39
1d60 ⇒ 59
The night passes on with a few fights here and there. Kullen and his group stay the whole night. Todrik and Bask are clearly gassed sometime after midnight but stick out the night. Rastophan doesn't appear to show any sign one way or another and Kullen seems like he could go the rest of the night.
The Feral Dog starts to thin out after midnight, and by 2am the exodus begins in earnest. Eventually right before 3am Kullen has had enough and gruffly tells the others its time to head back for some sleep before tomorrow's work.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "Sounds good."
GM Blood |
Sorry for the delay, I am not only wasting my nights away on Diablo 3, I have been trying a new map feature. I'll do a discussion post about that.
OK, so you follow the group out of the Feral Dog. While they are clearly drunk, at some point they realize they are being followed and stop to confront you.
Kullen, the albino half-orc says to you, "Why are you following us? I'm in an ornery mood, so if you want to live to see the sun, you better walk away right now!"
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara moves to stand beside Justin and adds, "After what we have discovered, we are also not in the best of spirits."
She then states in a sincere manner, which is likely lost on this group, "Being a bully only works, if others fear you. You really should take the time to consider before you threaten others you know nothing about. It has a way of not working out as you might expect."
The woman looks to the others to see if they want to add anything before she continues...

"Uh-oh, fun times are about to happen." Dryn attempts to pull out her mutagen in anticipation of the coming battle.
If I can do it secretly with Sleight of Hand, I will attempt it. If not, probably first action.
Sleight of hand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Rohara Acharya |
"Let us be blunt here." she says, "We could have brought this matter to the attention of the authorities, be what they are, or even those of Pharasma. We could have even announced it to all those of the this small town, but we are here, in the late hours of the night, letting you know that we know, and it that it is going to stop. If that is an issue for you, then perhaps this situation will escalate further than it has too. That is up to you. I am sure you can see the wisdom of it not, yes?"
Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 (Any help here guys? :) )
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin approaches the lead bully showing his teeth, "The lady is being nice, we would rather do this easy, but we can do this hard too. I can bring the might of Iomedae on you if you insist on being stubborn and not admitting you have behaved badly and need to change and show some remorse."
Aid diplomacy/intimidate 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Kilthan Hammerstone |
It'd be easier if we just busted their heads and didn't give 'em time to think about it... Wait, why did they stop and confront us here if they knew we were following?
Kilthan looks around the area, scanning for any additional cronies who might be planning to jump into the upcoming violence.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess who has been silently watching the proceedings of the evening and is now behind the group decides to have some fun.
Quietly to Dryn, who I assume is next to me. - Maybe Justin is not scary enough. Should I make him bigger, or just make these fools go to sleep?
Would have probably had more of a discussion with the rest of you on our choice of tactics while in the tavern, but have had very limited internet access until getting back home late last night.
GM Blood |
At the mention of the authorities, Kullen doesn't even blink and almost gets a grin on his face. In fact, this area seems rather devoid of any town guard anywhere.
At the mention of doing it the easy or hard way, Kullen says "Alright, lets do this the easy way! Get 'em boys!"

Rohara you are up
Rohara Acharya |
Rohara reaches for the mace at her side and brings her shield and weapon up to defend herself. She then waits for the nearest thug to approach. "It really did not have to come to this, but if that is how you wish to solve this matter..."
Draw weapon, and ready an action: Any thug that gets within reach with an intent to harm, will get a bonk on the head.
