DaWay's Legacy of Fire - Howl of the Carrion King
Game Master
DaWay
Having been hired by Garavel for the Merchant Princess Almahn you have reclaimed an Old Monastery to Sarenrae now you must launch the plan to reclaim Kelmarane as your contract details.
Holy crap guys. I don't look for half a day and all of a sudden there's over twenty posts in both in-game and discussion threads, plus a new player!
As for maps, there's various options, all of which I'm comfortable with:
Hand-wave and not worry about it. In a PbP, this is sometimes a good option just to keep things moving more quickly. It's pretty much how we did things back in 2nd Edition and nobody really complained - but then the game has changed significantly since then too.
Google Docs. You can use a spreadsheet to create the map grid, and use text and colors to define the map. It's not pretty, but it's functional and you can even allow players to modify the map to make their own movements if you desire. example
Image hosting. Pull the image from the PDF, number the grid, and host it somewhere like box.com, dropbox, whatever. This is the method I've used most when running games, because it allows the players to see the pretty artwork. If you've got some skill, you can also add effects such as darkness, lighting, etc to the map. example
Combination. I've seen combinations of all these, such as pulling the images from the PDF and then hosting it on google docs with movable tokens for each player. Little bit more work, but the payoff can be really nice. example
Oof! Character sheet (PFS Witch) Feedback please! (More so on the sheet than the character, though both are welcome). It was a pain, but I want it to be user friendly and explain everything necessary to anyone ever... Ignore background, it is about to change!
Keep in mind, for SRD, so if you find any non-SRD items or what not, let me know!
Everything should link to PRD, not SRD... have fun!

I'd be really careful with that low of a strength score. If the GM keeps track of encumbrance you will be loaded down before you even know it.
Or you could always hire a porter for like a copper piece a day.

I thought we were going thru the cacti... ok I'll post LOL
Wow. May I just take this moment to mention how much this roll twice and take lower thing sucks. It's interesting and puts a cool spin on things, but I really hope this isn't permanent. :P
My experience here with rolling twice is one of the main reasons I looked with a great deal of skepticism at the D&D 5e playtest mechanics where just about everything seems to boil down to advantage/disadvantage (rolling twice and either taking higher or lower result). It's just way too powerful of a mechanic.
That said, there's a witch hex that pretty much does the same thing, so...meh.

I haven't seen 5e rules, but it seems to me if everything depended on that mechanic instead of it being an option on one class then the game would loose a lot of complexity.
No problem man. Take your time. The better the character, the better the fun. You should read the debate/argument/tussle Tolus and the rest of the party got into in the recruitment thread. :P

I am working on a Tattooed Sorcerer currently. Any suggestions for elemental specialties that are good for legacy of fire. I was going to go fire as I thought it fit thematically but wasn't sure if i would be rendered useless if there are tons of fire immune creatures running around lol.
Well, let's see. The Player's Guide has this to say:
Sorcerers
Although rare, genies and their power over the elements
feature prominently in the legends and folklore of
Katapesh. Thus, it is no surprise that many sorcerers
claim to have genie blood. Where in many countries
such assertions would sound like foolish boasting, in
Katapesh there’s a chance it’s true. While sorcerers might
be found throughout the country, native sorcerers usually
rise from the west, typically among rural communities
and nomads—many of whom claim to be ancestors of
great heroes from magical lands. Traders from far and
wide bring their own arcane heritages to the cities, from
fiend-blooded tieflings to the naga-kin of Vudra and the
sea-speakers of the distant south. Sorcery is pervasive in
Katapesh, but never common.
Unfortunately there's nothing in there or in the Rangers section that mentions anything about fire. I'm guessing the enemies we'll be facing will be diverse enough not to worry about it. That said, we do already have a spellcaster focusing on fire, so you may want to choose something else just in the name of party diversity. Or you could both do fire and be kindred spirits.
