So, this players guide gives us the Elebrians, big headed folk with innate magical sense that are, mostly, kept for entertainment on Eox, and thus they culturally are mostly actors, streamers, and other performers.

You also get Corpsefolk as a versatile Heritage. You are whatever your ancestry was, just undead. with three lineages and lots of necro-tastic feats.

new spells, and new magic items as well, including weapons, like the Replica Zo! Microphone

Most of the stuff in the Player's Guide is from the adventure book itself, but it seems the writers took the time to add 3 brand new backgrounds as well as reprint 3 backgrounds and a vital skill feat from Book of the Dead. There's quite a bit more content than in most PF2 AP Player's Guides.

A quick note for any PFS players: This Player's Guide is not yet sanctioned for Organized Play*, so the unique content here isn't available in society quite yet, and we don't know if downloading the guide is sufficient ownership to use the options taken from the Adventure book.

*This isn't me speaking as a Paizo representative, just as a society GM saying "Please wait until the Sanctioning Page is updated, just as you would if you got an early copy of a PDF or physical book through a subscription or promotion".

As far as SFS goes... yeah, what Squark said.

But in general, this looks cool, another way to play undead, (a first one for SF2e) and an interesting, if sad and hilarious ancestry.

I think you just offended a lot of Borai. But this is the easiest* way to get negative healing on any PC, which is a part of the undead fantasy a surprising number of people miss from Borai.

*I'm hesitant to say only because I can't remember if there's an option in the player core. Was there a mystic feat to gain negatice healing?

Borai's status as "undead" is unclear and complicated giving their bodies are still living (hence not qualifying for negative healing)

Elebrians are maybe the funniest, most flavorful ancestry in the entire game. I want to pick up every single one of these feats! I wanna play a death-defying movie star who knows how to use big guns because of their time on killer game shows. (Soldiers, this is also finally the way to get that Magnetar Rifle)

Corpsefolk are sick, gnarly, and awesome. There's some really fun feats there- I especially love the one that gives you a unique lore to identify any undead, and the one that lets you RIP OUT BODY PARTS to turn into commercial knives you can hand out. Is it GOOD? Probably not. Is it EXACTLY what I wanna do as an alien Frankenstein? Yes! (Although it's very funny that there's a feat just to give +5 speed, but the body knives feat...also incidentally gives you +5 speed on top of everything else)

The items are really fun, too. I love a Zo! Branded microphone that's an AoE weapon of sonic noise. You can play the world's first Pop Star Performer Soldier! I also love the detail that the ice-cube gun is from a deadly Elebrian cooking show. (However...there's no amount of hands listed for the Zo! Microphone? Is it a rare one-handed area weapon, like the Starfall Pistol?)

And don't forget to check out the spells, too. I've noticed that Chill Gaze being able to easily and consistently inflict Clumsy at low levels is very, very good in SF2E. Clumsy over performs when dexterity determines almost EVERYONE'S attacks & AC at the same time!

But don't overlook Vague Idea, either- a one action Cantrip actually really excites me? The ability to either buff a recall knowledge check or force a will save against a Dazzle as just a generic third action sounds really fun. I imagine a lot of spellcaster turns could easily look like "shoot my gun + transfer vitality/sustain my quantum field + Vague Idea". Or just "two-action spell + Vague Idea". (The fact that it's touch range hurts, but both Witchwarpers and Mystics have fantastic distance boosting metamagics)

With the Elebrian I imagine a streamer who grew up on stream and has formed an unhealthy parasocial relationship with his followers online, fueling his Mystic Connection. He genuinely cares about everyone, but also has very little care about himself (always treated like a product or asset, even by his family) so his journey is learning that kindness and care must also be extended to yourself.

Borai are kinda one foot on either side of the line. Corpse folk are the first true undead ancestry option in starfinder. Borai your body is still alive but your soul is haunting it and puppeting it around.

One of the most concerning things about trying to play a corpsefolk is:

"Undead Trait:
Once living, these creatures were infused after death with void energy and soul-corrupting unholy magic. When reduced to 0 Hit Points, an undead creature is destroyed. Undead creatures are damaged by vitality energy and are healed by void energy, and don't benefit from healing vitality effects."

This is different from the Basic Undead Benefits that the PF2e Skeleton and archetypes grant that don't include that line.

Curious if there will be a clarification on this when sanctioned for SFS, or if anyone knows why this wouldn't apply.

"Void Survival: Unlike normal undead, you aren’t
destroyed when reduced to 0 Hit Points. Instead,
powerful energies attempt to keep you from being
destroyed. You are knocked out and begin dying
when reduced to 0 Hit Points"

This is in the side bar regarding the Corpse Folk's heritage.

Isn't this part of those other options you mentioned?

Thank you for pointing that out. It does not appear on AoN. This is exactly the what I thought was missing.

Probably because it is listed in a side bar and not in ancestry block but it is specifically called out.

Planning some truly gnarly undead SFS characters since this book just showed up on Character Options.

The Adventure is there, and if you own that, you've been good to go for about a month. To reiterate: This new Player's Guide has not yet been sanctioned. We do not know if the added backgrounds and Stitch Flesh will be SFS legal, and it is not 100% certain the character options reprinted in this document will be available if you do not own the adventure.

The book was an instant order for me. I've been waiting for playable corpsefolk since 2017.

It's in my cart, just waiting for the gold program to start, lol. I didn't realize this until PF2E, but I am apparently a sucker for undead PC options.

Also, on the subject of corpsefolk, I'm thinking of giving them a custom feat that lets them get into the Zombie archetype as an ancestry feat, perhaps around levels 5 or 9. It just feels too appropriate.

Oh that Zombie archetype is, uh, tasty. Hadn't seen it before. Thanks for mentioning it!
