Have you ever had a moment in a campaign that made you think "Shoudl have gone for my other idea..."?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So, Me and my group recently started a new campaign that seems to be very focused on fighting undead, at least for the first book. It is a prewritten adventure.

I was really struggling with picking a class at first, I was thinking between a melee warpriest, and an archer (Either warpriest or ranger focused on using a bow) and I was really close to picking the archer, But in the end I looked at the rest of the party and noticed we where severely lacking in melee so I went for the melee warpriest.

The other party members are a paladin (Other frontlinger) An cryptbreaker alchemist focused on bombs, a caster druid, a spiritualist who refuses to wear armor or wield weapons and rarely summons his phantom and focuses on casting spells, A Psion of some sort form Dreamscarred Press, And we might have a Sorcerer joining us as well if his internet gets sorted out.

Yesterday in session 3 we tracked down a cache of undead hunting tools that could be useful to us and we found some scrolls and potions and other useful items... And.. A pile of magic arrows, A dozen silver arrows, Some ghost touch arrows, some undead bane arrows, and some other useful arrows I dont remember right now. A treasure that would be amazing to find as an archer, Something you'd almost never come across especially in pre-written adventures! And... I skipped the archer to hold the frontlines (Did not have enough point buy to get good dex as well as good strength and wisdom so I cant really use a bow at all, And nobody in the party uses bows...)

Made me think to myself "Darn, Should have gone for the archer..." Have you ever had a moment like this in your campaigns? (Note, I'm not upset, Just found it funny that we found such a treasure of magic arrows when I had almost gone archer... XD)

Yeah, I still get those moments in games I play in, even if the game gets to level 16 as in the one I am currently active. I usually have a backup character ready to go in case the worst happens too.

My Advice -
play the personality in the situation and try to come up with ways to be successful. Don't second guess your way into inaction or depression.
The scenario is just throwing "useful" loot at you. At least it's not random or too late.

Look at the two party members who could be the best archers. Get them appropriate bows! You don't need Point-blank and Precise Shot until they are within 10ft of melee. Not getting +1(+1) ain't gonna kill ya but not using decent ranged attacks may! Softening the targets... then at 10 ft drop the bows, pull your weapons and have at it!
If they are "silvered" arrows, sell them as RAW stinks for them. Buy durable cold iron(cFe) arrows and silver weapon blanche, apply. Keep 6 durable arrows with WpnBlch Ag, 6 cFe{breakable} maybe with WpnBlch ghost touch, 6 blunt arrows, and two specials or durable admant in you quiver.. about 3 rounds of ammo. Knowledge(religion) to identify the Undead is going to be needed.

Silver Crusade

If you don’t want to be the archer by level 6 you are either doing things quite well or you are the most team oriented player in the whole game.
