Interest Check - AD&D 1st edition campaign

Recruitment

Hey guys,

Been contemplating this for a while, and my recent experience with C&C hasn't quite fully scratched my nostalgic tendencies.

So, checking for interest in a AD&D 1st edition campaign.

Now ,this will be the original system , warts and all. Demi-human level restrictions, abilities rolled in order, abilities determining what class you may be,
training for level advancement, xp from treasure, different xp level requirement for each class etc etc etc

All the weird and arbitrary decisions by Mr Gygax and friends will be in full effect.

If that strikes your fancy, let me know.

This is by no means a sure thing, just wanted to know if there was an appetite for such endeavors :)

Ah man Spazmodeus... This is perfect.

Definitely interested! Hopefully no UA, just PHB, DMG and MM?

Probably. Anything outside that would be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Need some more bodies first though! :)

Maybe... I'll dust off my old books this weekend and see if I get inspired.

Definitely interested.

I'm your huckleberry ;)

Half-orc multiclass will be my weapon of choice...

Interested. Using just the PHB or including the Unearthed Arcana book? (Not that anyone will manage to roll the stats necessary for a Cavalier or a Barbarian).

Cavalier is broken, so my vote would be for no UA personally.

And I would also suggest rolling somewhere else not on the Paizo boards, so all is on the up and up. Somewhere where people cannot preview their rolls and cheat ;)

See my post above about UA.

But saying anything in AD&D is 'broken' assumes that there's any sort of balance...a finely tuned rpg it is not! :)

So 4 interested, 1 maybe...this just might happen!

OK, grognards assemble!

I'll create a new thread and send you all an link to it's discussion thread so we can get on with it!

Stay tuned!

Let’s go!

I'd be interested as well if you still need another player. I have all of my classic books on the shelves and happy to add whatever class is needed after the party is formed.

Welcome, Bombadil.

I'll send you the discussion link as well.

To any others interested, please indicate such here and I'll keep you in reserve should any player fall by the wayside.

Liberty's Edge

Interested what about the single classed Bard from Dragon #54?

Thanks for your interest, Qstor.

Since I already have 6 interested parties, I'll add you to my reserve player list if needed.

I checked dragon issue 54, but didn't see the single class bard you mention. Ah... found it in issue 56! :)

Sovereign Court

Sure, I'd go in. I guess reservist.

Is there still interest in this? Because I'd be tempted to join.

Hey Dragoon cat, you'll have to join Qstor and Jesse Heinig on my reserve list :)

Alrighty then!

Qstor and Jesse, I've had a couple players withdraw, I've sent PMs .

Dragoncat, I've sent a PM.

Liberty's Edge

Oooo...one more spot??? lol Would love to play if you have the space...otherwise I can go on the waitlist!!

Maybe....if Dragoncat doesn't roll up a character soon!

Liberty's Edge

lol....well I dont want to steal his spot....What classes do you have so far?? I am up to playing anything (ever...gasp!!! a Wizard!!) hahahah

Grand Lodge

damn guess i missed out

Hello!
I'm very interested as well, if anyone drops out -- I've been rereading AD&D 2nd ed recently so I can (hopefully) run a game with my siblings, but I've played 1st as well (though it's been a while). The other PbP games have stagnated, and I'm hoping for a new game!

(EDIT: I should mention that I also play in local D&D game that's based, in part, on the old Swords and Wizardry White Box, so I'm very familiar with the "roll 3d6 in order" "you will probably die immediately" style of game)
