Has anything come out in the past 10-12 years mentioning the Darklight Sisterhood? Any 2nd Ed Society Scenarios? AP or stand-alone mentions? Write-Ups in backmatter material?

Thanks in advance!

They haven't been mentioned in 2e at all that I'm aware of. Technically I don't think they were even mentioned in 1e, as the latest book I know of that they were mentioned in was the Guide to Korvosa, which I believe was still 3.5.

Their role as "Cheliax's answer to the Pathfinder Society" was reassigned to the Aspis Consortium in any event.

Wow, there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Sounds like a prime example of a deep cut that could be interesting to bring back in current times though considering the Cheliax situation.

Who were the darklight sisterhood again?

When we first started building the world of Golarion in the era after the magazines but before we actually started building the Pathfinder RPG, we were in scramble mode building the lore of the setting at the same time we were publishing content. Not all of the lore we came up within those early days of scrambling ended up resonating with us at Paizo, and the Darklight Sisterhood is one that didn't catch on or inspire us, in part because the themes they focused on were limited and a subset of the Aspis Consortium, which was more intriguing to us.

As a result, we've pretty much done nothing with the Darklight Sisterhood. When we decide not to continue with lore tidbits like these, we generally just move on and let them lie; GMs who are intrigued by these tidbits can run with them and be inspired by them if they want with little fear of Paizo publishing anything to "compete" with their work, I suppose.

The Darklight Sisterhood are the agency of Cheliax dedicated to tracking down lost artifacts, relics and archaeological finds.

The Cheliax version of PFS. (It was introduced in Korvosa at the dawn of Pathfinder.)

....

I haven't paid 'as much' attention to Pathfinder since PF2, sticking to original Pathfinder -- but I'm working on designing an urban campaign that takes place in Cheliax (Egorian, Westcrown, Corentyn) and the Darklight Sisterhood could be a major agency in the campaign -- maybe even the PCs *are* Darklight Sisterhood like some campaigns begin with: 'Your PC is a member of PFS.'

So I wanted to see if there was any new stuff.

But, whew, since there seems to not be, this gives me free reign as a DM to design what I need.

Makes sense that they aren't really used.

On the other hand, subtly inserting a 'Lady Insert Chelaxian Name Here Darklight, Noted Socialite' into a sidebar in an Old Cheliax setting book would be a very cool little treat.

Although, they're Korvosan not Chelaxian if I'm reading it right. Perhaps holdovers from when Korvosa was part of Cheliax?

Reading that the Pathfinders know almost nothing about them because they're sort of irrelevant gives me an amazing image of a bunch of 'trying too hard to be mysterious Team Rocket type girlfails' who simply are not effective but maybe stumble into some success on accident.

Here I was thinking they might be a great stand-in for the Ahnenerbe SS in comparison to the Pathfinders being more Indiana Jones-coded but them being what amounts to a Team Rocket sound more hilarious. The one blurb I could find about them even notes that their rivalry with the Pathfinders is rather one-sided due to being much smaller than the Pathfinders.

It would be kind of fun to see an incompetent but loveable Darklight Society.

Their members run around chasing obviously false leads, they come up with wild conspiracies concerning mundane objects, and they are completely convinced they are the preeminent archeological society on Golarion.

Cheliax has completely disowned them at this point, but they still dedicate all their "discoveries" to the Throne of Cheliax.

And the Pathfinder Society is constantly getting tasked to go out on rescue missions to pull the Darklight Society out of the current mess that the Darklight has gotten themselves into.

I could also see the Venture Gossip writing about the most cringe, exasperating, or flabergasting exploits of the Darklight Society.

Not to mention that the Darklight is very possibly... something. But what the Darklight is is known only to the Darklight Society... at least in theory.

Pathfinders sent out on rescue missions have to pretend the Darklight Society is a legitimate threat the entire time or they won't cooperate with the rescue.

Darklight Sisterhood, not Darklight Society.

I know. :) I was just imagining they had expanded their membership since we first met them.

But... It would be fun if within the Darklight Society there was still a subgroup called the Darklight Sisterhood.

I've always had the Darklight Sisterhood an organization in the same fashion as The Scarlet Brotherhood: Both male and female agents, members, operatives, etc. .... Maybe Abrogail Thrune I named it The Darklight Sisterhood and whenever you join you change your name to 'Darklight' -- male or female. I mean, there are plenty of "Sisters" (and "Aunts") among the Monks of The Scarlet Brotherhood.

And I've also always seen the Darklight Sisterhood as a powerful and respectable agency in Cheliax. I mean, it's State sponsored so it can be to archaeology'isms what the HellKnights are to Law and Order.

What if...the Darklight Sisterhood just *projected* the perception they were somewhat incompetent?

Suppose a few of them made up an elite group of women artifact hunters who would put the likes of the the Aspis Consortium and the Pathfinder Society to shame?

One of the things that would make them so special is that they infiltrated both organizations and not only acquired powerful artifacts from under their noses but they also acquired artifacts from the storehouses of both organizations!

Where did the Thorncrown of Iomedae wind up? I bet the elite members of the Sisterhood could tell you. In fact, they could be studying it right now and could be passing on secrets from the Test of the Starstone to her Infernal Majestrix Abrogail II as we speak!

Why don't we know more about their clandestine activities?

Because there are only 4 or 5 members of the "inner" Sisterhood, and they're great at keeping secrets.

Oh that's a lot of fun! A highly competent secret society hiding within a publicly society that is known for being broadly incompetent.

What do y'all think of changing the name to 'The Darklight Order' like how they changed 'Scarlet Brotherhood' to Scarlet Order?

Kinda odd.

But I think I like it.

Hmm

You could certainly change the overall name to Darklight Order, but, in my mind at least, that is the name for the incompetents.

The Darklight Sisterhood should be a subset that is all female (5 members at most) and are the secret, highly competent component of the organization.

But it's your Golarion, so do what seems right to you.

One of the nice things about organizations is they can grow and expand, have branches, have sub organizations, have internal layers and tiers, so maybe there is a Darklight Sisterhood and a Darklight Order and they are just different parts of the same organization. It all sounds fun to me!
