This scenario has a significant decision in it. I'm not putting any spoilers in because the scenario's not out yet, but you'll know what I mean when you see it, and I need this thread to exist to reference it on the boon :). What did your character do?
There are spoilers under this tag. You've been warned.
If you'd like to see others' deities, see the new pantheon here.

OOC: A lot of people will come in talking about their deities. I have a different story, one that doesn’t fit neatly into a Google Form. It’s a story shaped by lived experience, by years of roleplaying a character who grew and changed alongside the evolving universe of Starfinder. This is Dr. Grunyar Nobel’s story. It’s not about ascension. It’s about choice.
Dr. Grunyar Nobel, a humble servant of Sarenrae and respected Forum mystic, stood apart from many Starfinders. A 70-year-old dwarf with sun-kissed skin, maple-brown eyes, and a jet-black beard, he bore an unusually lithe build for his kind. Angelic, ultralight wings shimmered from his back—a divine mark of the healing mercy he offered in Sarenrae’s name. Though gentle in manner, he was a formidable mystic. Hellknights, demigods, and serial killers alike fell to his mind thrusts, miasmas, and psychic holds, their own eldritch tricks often turned against them.
He mentored powerful Starfinders—Vaba Yaga, Kriinos, Kazani, Rakakama—throughout his long career. His journey spanned from liberating Pulonis, combating the Data Scourge, navigating the perils of Azlanti space, to ultimately thwarting Datch before returning to the Scoured Stars.
The Scoured Stars were more than a mission; they were a memory. Before he ever bore the glyph, Dr. Nobel was a counselor in the Burning Archipelago, guiding the lost and returning wayward Redeemed cultists to Sarenrae’s light. When the call came to join Jadnura’s bold expedition into the Scoured Stars, he hesitated. He warned his students, especially Vaba, to be prepared for things to go awry. As usual, his instincts proved correct.
Trapped for years within that forsaken system, Dr. Nobel and his companions—Kazani and Kriinos—survived only through their faith, resilience, and the heroism of others. Though they eventually escaped, a deep wound of betrayal remained. Dr. Nobel, despite his forbearing nature, never forgave Jadnura for the reckless gamble. Any mention of the First Seeker soured his usually radiant demeanor. Behind closed doors, he was Jadnura’s harshest critic on the Forum.
Years later, now an elder on the Forum and mentor to a new generation, Dr. Nobel received a summons: Kadrical was to be reborn, and he was invited to witness the Final Assessment. After checking in on Vaba — recently returned from Aucturn’s hatching — he joined his fellow Starfinders for one last mission. Together, they faced cosmic horrors, and in the end, it was Dr. Nobel who struck down Dhurus, sending the corrupt herald to face Pharasma’s judgment.
Then came the offer.
The heralds of Kadrical stood before the gathered champions—beings of radiant presence, shaped by divine rebirth. With solemn voices that resonated like ancient songs, they extended a singular choice: ascend as demigods, guardians of the reborn Scoured Stars, eternally bound to its stars, its fate, its people.
Dr. Grunyar Nobel stood among them, wings of softly glowing celestial light gently folded behind his back, his eyes cast not upward, but outward, toward Desna’s Path, the galaxy under his care.
He listened as his companions accepted the call, one by one, each stepping forward to take their place in the cosmos anew.
Then, the sagely mystic stepped forward, not hesitant, but sure.
“I am humbled by your offer, truly. The power you grant could inspire others to rise, to become better people across the galaxy.
But I’ve seen firsthand the recklessness of Jadnura’s expedition. I’ve lived with the tragic consequences, watching good people die for Jadnura’s hunch, to save me, to save so many others.
I’ve also seen the good I can do beyond this system, from helping a lover escape a traitor’s grasp, to standing against threats that would engulf all of Desna’s Path.
I’ve taught. I’ve healed. I’ve led. I’ve endured.
And so, with deep respect, I must decline.
My place lies elsewhere. My work continues.”
There was a moment of silence.
Then, one of the heralds stepped forward. Their voice, like starlight made sound, rang out across the chamber:
“A choice made freely, in service to others, is no less divine than one made in pursuit of apotheosis.”
No rebuke followed. No judgment lingered, only understanding and profound respect.
Then came the Tear of Kadrical—luminous, solemn.
Its crystalline vessel was brought forth and, with reverent precision, shattered. The green, glowing fluid within flowed into an ancient basin, its light pulsing like a living star, verdant and sacred.
One by one, his companions drank, transforming in body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. Nobel remained still, watching. His wise brown eyes gleamed not with bitterness or sorrow, but with peace and purpose.
He turned from the chamber, his wings folding gently behind him. In that moment, he knew his place.
For gods do not act alone. They work through the hands and hearts of their followers.
And Dr. Nobel? He would continue to be those hands. That heart.
Unlike his companions, now bound eternally to the Scoured Stars, he would remain free—free to serve in the Pact Worlds, to heal, to guide, and to lead the Starfinder Society across Desna’s Path.
He left the Scoured Stars that day still mortal. Still merciful. Still a servant of Sarenrae. Forever a Starfinder.
But more than that, he left as a living reminder:
That divinity is not measured by ascension alone. Sometimes, it’s the choice to stay that echoes the loudest. And across Desna’s Path, that echo carried hope.
Let others rise as gods, beings shackled by prayers, bound by fate.
Grunyar Nobel would keep them alive.
OOC: Dr. Grunyar Nobel’s story continues. Whether as a Forum elder, mentor, or perhaps even a future First Seeker, his work is far from done. If Paizo ever wishes to include Dr. Grunyar Nobel in future Starfinder content—be it scenarios, lore references, or otherwise—they are welcome to do so. I’d be honored to see him continue guiding others, whether as a Forum elder, a mentor, or even a future First Seeker. His story doesn’t end here, only this chapter. Wherever the Starfinder Society goes next, he’ll be helping light the way.

I feel bittersweet at letting my 701 character go, sure he was gm blob I rarely got to play(mostly at low levels then really high levels), but I got really attached to Rahzar's tragicomedic career that formed for him more I played him and when I started to pay attention to what gm chronicles I had given him xD This retirement felt like perfect ending for his character arc, so I feel like elaborating on it, even if someone might find it silly I got this attached to character I didn't get to play at every level of the game. I do wish I got to play him more(I've gm'd more scenarios than I've played overall, so its just natural I have too many gm chronicles), but loved each time I got to play him, if it isn't obvious from this overly long fanfic post I made :p
Rahzar's family imposed upon him the traditional Veskarium sense of honor and duty. But despite expectations about glorious military career being placed upon him, Rahzar's true passion was history. He dreamed of becoming an archaeologist and exploring the galaxy. He wanted to be a Starfinder. Further more, Rahzar was disquieted by Veskarium's history of brutal conquest and career of violence against sapient life never sat well with him. But he didn't have any real choices or options to study something else, so history was just a hobby to him.
At age of 20, Scoured Stars Incident happened and Society started massive recruitment of new agents, even mercenaries. Rahzar saw his opportunity and took Soldier's Due and left Veskarium. He knew his family would consider quitting military to become a scholar to be unforgivable blemish upon their honor, but Rahzar was determined to follow his dreams and finally he could put his military career into good use. While violence still unsettled him, idea of pursuing his dream career and using his training to protect other explorers didn't sound too bad for him. Violence being only be used to protect others from violence, that is something he could live with.
Rahzar was clumsy, but dutiful agent who avoided lethal violence as much as possible. Things were promising to him and his experience from military became useful in missions. He believed he could build up his experience until he could stop being a bodyguard and focus on research. His favorite moments where those quiet periods of downtime between big missions, working on the archaeological expeditions. Sure occasionally Starfinder duties involved things like rubbing elbows with corporate sponsors and such, but introverted vesk could still stand such necessary evils.
Everything however changed when Godshield came down and Jinsuls attacked the Scoured Star. Suddenly Starfinder Society was dragged into a war against unreasonable invasive force. And thus Rahzar fought in the war against Jinsuls. It was necessary to protect Society's new allies and innocents under threat of Jinsuls and Rahzar carried no regret about that, but he rose in ranks as the war proceeded. And even once jinsuls were defeated, he kept being sent on military operations. And that bothered him as he became more aware of Society's operation, such as Radaszam's clandestine operations. By time Datch had been stopped, Rahzar had come to conclusion that perhaps she had a point, and that wasn't helped by new realization that Starfinder Society had their own private prison.
Sure Luwasi had allowed bunch of mercenaries into society as proper agents, some who still didn't have interest outside of fighting and income, but it was necessary. She made backroom deals and courted new allies, including Zo!, the media mogul known for reality shows that lack any respect for sanctity of sapient life, but she did it because she had to right? Rahzar had mixed feelings about some choices Luwasi had made, but he always respected her especially for stepping down after her mandate was fulfilled. Thus Rahzar ended up voting for Ehu Hadif as his platform of returning back to core Starfinder mission statement appealed to him. It was time to return to peacetime and put aside wartime methods. Then Data Scourge happened.
Disquiet inside him worsened as he started to realize that only missions that increased his reputation and career advancement were the military missions he was being sent on. Ehu Hadif was dealt hard hand by Data Scourge, but his value of traditions and stability meant he also continued path of previous first seekers such as more working together with Zo! and keeping up the tenuous agreement with Veskarium. Society's involvement with corporate interests, foreign politics, fighting criminal elements was starting to worn down on Rahzar and he started to withdraw more and more doing paper work and cataloging finds of other starfinder teams working on expeditions involving Kishalee and Sivv empires, while still being occasionally called back to field missions, usually involving military operations. At least occasional charity missions were nice, but why did Starfinders perform work suited for Stewards and Knights of Golarion? He started to wonder if he quit being soldier of Veskarium to instead being soldier of Starfinder Society.
Things came to boiling point for him after he was involved with series of secret starfinder operations, including wetwork against Eoxian undead involved with Corpse Fleet and promotion to Forum membership. No matter the reasons, Rahzar couldn't help but feel he was being rewarded for violence and he started mustering grudge towards Guidance. Even though he was involved in lot of paramilitary operations, Rahzar did his best to avoid casualties on opposite side, but destruction of undead target, no matter how vile, and being the invading force was too much on his conscience. Rahzar was in bad headspace for long time afterwards, but after failed attempt at First Seeker candidacy, working to recruit new starfinders and helping new agents and tons of introspection and therapy he came to a realization.
Reason why Rahzar was sent on so many military operations was that he was good at it. He was better warrior than he was a scholar and he had talent for killing even if he refrained from it. His family hadn't been wrong per say when they thought he was wasting his potential. But more importantly, he could have all along refused if he wanted to. He could have just refused assignments and stayed as helper in archaeological expeditions and if he truly didn't trust Society, he could have just quit like he did the military. He wasn't held down by his dream to became a starfinder, it was because he genuinely trusted judgement of his coworkers and leaders. Luwasi, Ehu Hadif, Guidance, even Radaszam, he didn't believe any of them would compromise society's ideals for personal gain nor that they would ask him to join mission if they didn't genuinely need his talents for good cause. The thing holding Rahzar on path of violence he detested was his trust in Society and he had never stopped loved wonder of discovery no matter what. He had always had that sense of responsibility his family tried to impose on him, just towards people he could believe in. But that responsibility was conflicting with his conscience and personal philosophy and that's why he felt miserable.
This realization brought him inner peace and by end of seventh year in Society, he had resolved that if Society needed him to be a soldier, he would use his talents as long as needed, or at least as long he was able to. He would advocate for new agents to pull back if missions were rough on their mental state, but he was unable to follow on his own advice. Then the life threw an another curve-ball and Master of Nomenclature made their offer.
To others, the offer to become a Steward of Scoured Stars was giving up their freedom to explore the galaxy, but to Rahzar it was something else. He didn't give damn about becoming a godling or anything like that. It was a solution to his dilemma. He would have to give up ability to see in person what wonders galaxy had to offer, but Scoured Stars had multiple lifespans worth of archaeological work needing to be done and Rahzar never wanted to be an aggressor, but was always ready to be a protector. Protecting Scoured Stars alongside Jadnura and dedicating himself to study its wonders and preserve it, it was the perfect new path for him. He could still help Society, but now he had something only he could do and he didn't need to sacrifice his conscience. He could stop being a soldier. By allowing himself to make another selfish choice, he could be himself. And now he had all the time to recover and find his peace.
(Rahzar could easily be LG if not for fact he genuinely doesn't like going out of his way to fight bad guys and be a hero and that while he is ready to help people in need and do charity, he is really just some guy who wants to do his studies dang it)

But yeah uh. Haven't gotten email from filling the form, so is it possible to alter things post player core release or fix formatting error* by just refilling form again, or would that create a duplicate? I'd rather not create duplicates
*(as it turns out, I apparently should have pressed enter after each "," to put them on different lines since now edicts/anathema are unreadable because its formatted as one long line and it cuts of the line to go to next field. I spent embarrassingly long time figuring out wording for 3 of them and only first one is visible and just partially. And I didn't make notes or backups because I thought I could just check from doc afterwards x'D)
Consider this post a PSA for everyone else filling the form since I'm not only person who did that oopsie with Edicts/Anathema not being readable ^^:

As Grrrzzzit boarded the Perfect Silence for the mission back to the Scoured Stars, memories from many years back flooded his mind. Fresh out of training camp his very first assignment was a mission that would take him to some place called the Scoured Stars. Not much was known about this region of space, but like the rest of his squad Grrrzzzit was ready to prove the faith that The Starfinder Society had placed in him was warranted. Little did he or the rest of the Starfinder Society know what waited for them as they entered the Scoured Stars. By the time the smoke had cleared the battlefield, Grrrzzzit was the only member of his squad still alive and he found himself captured by a strange alien race he would later learn were called the Jinsul. Time passed slowly for Grrrzzzit as he and the other survivors that were captured endured their captivity under the Jinsul. It seemed as if years had passed and all Grrrzzzit felt was despair
Grrrzzzit had all but given up hope until one day he heard sounds of combat outside his prison cell. Could it be that The Forever Queen had finally answered his prayers for his captivity to end. Just as a glimmer of hope returned to Grrrzzzit his cell door opened and a Jinsul entered his cell, leg blades raised. In his condition, Grrrzzzit could not defend himself and prepared himself for death. As the Jinsul approached he heard shots ring out from beyond his cell, and the Jinsul dropped. Grrrzzzit looked up and saw a Kasathan with the symbol of Desna on his armor. The kasathan approached and said words that would forever guide Grrrzzit. "You were never forgotten my fellow Starfinder, and we have finally returned to rescue those we left behind" As the Kasathan said some words of power, Grrrzzzit found his energies renewed. The Kasathan, who he later learned was a mystic named Esor Labana handed him a semi-auto pistol and said "I bet you still have some fight left in you. Follow me!"
After some time Grrrzzzit returned to active duty with the Starfinders. Those first few missions were tough on Grrrzzzit as he could not shake the memories of his first mission and the failure that it was. Eventually he was able to put the past behind him. The next time he saw a Jinsul was on a mission to Outpost 634, and by this time he had finally pushed aside his fears of the Jinsul. No longer would they haunt his nightmares.
As the mission that would later be known as "The Final Assessment" concluded and the Master of Nomenclature Sahljahns asked who would participate in the Ritual to remain, Grrrzzzit knew when First Seeker Jadnura made his descision to remain that there was only one answer that Grrrzzzit could make. Afterall, someone would need to see after Jednura as he remained behind to watch over the Scoured Stars, and who better to protect Jednura than Grrrzzzit the Relenless Sharpshooter, Survivor of the Scoured Stars, best marksman in the Starfinder Society, and now a Steward of the Scoured Stars! Let the next chapter begin!

Charli had wanted to be a starfinder for as long as she could remember. Even before her application had been accepted*, she served the Starfinder Society by running the Poshkettle Tea stand right outside the Lorespire, providing drinks and snacks to hungry Starfinders.
Once she became a Starfinder, she made it a point to welcome in other starfinders, no matter how exotic their ancestry. Her work with the Manifold Host faction helped smooth the way. She gave her life in the Perplexity to welcome in an entire civilization of SROs, and came back from the dead. She worked tirelessly during the Scoured Stars to bring back Starfinders, and to help the races of the Scoured Stars system who escaped their tyrannical god.
Along the way, she became an accidental celebrity while on one of Zo!'s shows, and that helped spread Poshkettle Tea far and wide. Poshkettle Tea became an employer for dozens of refugees down on their luck, or people just needing a first chance. Charli went to Salvation's End multiple times and even defeated the Vault Lord to give the peoples of that moon a fighting chance.
When the jinsul attacked, she helped defeat Dhurus while shouting, "I am a gnome!" as she made the final check to turn off the powers keeping him alive. When she went on the mission later known as the "Final Assessment" she helped defeat Dhurus once again. But when Kadrical asked her to become a herald, she declined the honor. Her place was with the Starfinder Society, and with all the people in the Pact Worlds that she was continuing to help.
She did cheer on her friends who accepted this mission, throwing one last tea party for them to celebrate their last day as mortals. Some people are meant to be gods. Others are content to serve the tea.
____________
*Charli had GM credit from the very first weekend at GenCon, but had remained a GM baby until her player scored a legacy race boon.

Jack was a Strafinder.
Such fact should be obvious to anyone who knew him, but he insisted those be the first words.
I met Jack the day he became a Star finder and the day he became Jack.
I was a junior medic at the time, providing support to teams of agents delving into some ruins on a hollow world in the vast. Sivv, or so they said. Above my pay grade. Somebody a lot worse than us must have known about them because where we sent a dozen agents, they sent Jack.
Medical had been on light duty, just the usual disturbing the ruins of an ancient civilization cuts and scrapes and one guy who caught something that made him swamp bodies with an alternate version of himself. Wasn’t that bad except everyone liked the other guy better and I could see how you would resent that.
All a sudden, there’s explosions from the ruins. Pop, pop, pop. Comms light up, people don’t check in, we start prepping and five later and one of the field teams drags themselves in. Everyone wounded, two unconscious, plus an Android none of us had ever seen. Field commander asked what happened, they just pointed at the Android.
Whistler, a Triunite priest who was in charge of medical took one look at the Android and said, and I quote, “No. No, no, no. That is not to be done.” Way he explained it someone had put something inside the Android that overrode parts of his brain. Nasty piece of tech with some magic dead people bits inside it stuck straight in the back of the brainstem. Sometimes this job makes you learn about things you wish you didn’t know.
I drew the short straw on being there when the Android woke up. There were also two large and heavily armed agents standing behind me, but I was the one in reach. Only thing we new about him other than that he was very good at shooting people was that he had “JK-4762” etched into his skin.
If it weren’t for med school, I’m not sure I would have noticed him wake up. I got the impression he had read the whole room before deciding what to do. I went through the usual questions. He knew where he was but seemed surprised that he knew. He knew that had attacked the team but not why. Talking to him was hard. I’ve known Androids and yeah, narrow range of emotion, sure but Jack was flat. Like there weren’t any emotions underneath. I asked him at one point if JK-4762 was his name and I was so flustered I read the first part as a word, not two letters.
“No.” he said, looking straight through me. “Not 4762 and more. Just Jack.”
So, he was Jack. Just Jack. Under guard, he helped the teams delve into the ruins. They pulled out whatever they were looking for and Jack got glowing reviews from everybody he hadn’t shot.
Two weeks of being studied back at Lorespire they sent him out with a field team for the first time. A month after that, the Scoured Stars happened. The second time. Jack went. I think if he hadn’t been assigned, he would have gone anyway. They tell me he talked down a homicidal planetary AI. Apparently, he found common ground with it. Wasn’t sure at the time whether I found that reassuring.
I don’t think Jack ever had any hobbies. He did Starfinder field work at a burnout pace. When he wasn’t on missions he did investigative work. The way he explained it to me, someone took a lot of time to make him very good at getting into places he wasn’t allowed and removing things he wasn’t supposed to so he might as well use those skills to do some good.
Jack did a lot of good.
It was years before anybody found out that the one hobby he did have was tracking other Starfinder teams. Sometimes when a team of rookies was sent somewhere over their heads Jack would tag along, usually without the team knowing he was there. Sometimes the field teams would find something that was going to attack them stunned, a trap disabled, a door open or a system disabled. Always, it was done in a way that minimized the risk to the team.
After a while some of the team leaders worked out what was happening, but we never really reported it up channels. I remember one time we’re in a ruin on Eox, dealing with some ghouls between us and our I believe still classified objective. Shot out of nowhere blows a square meter out of the ground next to me. Heavy weapons fire from somewhere on high. We hunker down as much as a ghoul swarm will let you and thirty seconds later, we hear a crash. Post ghouls, we make our way to the base of some bombed-out tower. At the base of it there was a broken anti-vehicle sniper rifle with a corpse fleet insignia and a side of gore. One of the rookie agents asks what the hell that is. The field leader looks at him, looks at me and says, “That’s just Jack.”
Jack went back to the Scoured Stars two weeks ago. Something about Jadnura and Kadrical that I am happy to say is still above my pay grade. Word is something very bad went down and might be going down again. They took volunteers to stay and try to stop it. Didn’t sound like a thing you come back from. I can’t imagine there was much of a delay between the question and the answer.
So, Jack is gone, but I think he’s still a Starfinder.
He made backups. Of everything he remembered about all his missions. Not just the ones he was assigned to but everything where he just tagged along and what he could remember from before he was Jack. From the days of JK-4762. Copies went out to several of us, Starfinder leadership and some of us that I guess he considered friends.
Some of it is rough to read, and not just the things from before. Jack was always clear that he believed in the Society as a force for good. The rest of us aren’t always so sure.
I fell asleep reading through mission reports the other night. Missed the usual meditation and spiritual blah blah that puts me in touch with whatever claims to be the divine this week. I was just too damned tired of it all. So, I’m half asleep and I see it. Four numbers floating in a square.
4 7
6 2
First divine epiphany I’ve ever had, let me tell you. Not sure if I was the only one but I know it for what it was. Jack didn’t die. He bloody ascended and he left us to keep up the fight.
So that’s why I’m talking to you. This isn’t a eulogy, it’s a recruitment pitch. We’re calling ourselves The Watch. Trying to do what Jack would have done. Be where we’re needed. Do good, even if you break the rules and the bad guys to get it done. Protect the innocent, fade back into the shadows. No fame, no glory. Just a better universe.
If you’re in, you know how to find me.
-Copernicus Welin, Priest of 4762. Friend of Jack.

Pietro Quintellus. Gun Slinger. Adventurer. Ladies Man (Wink,WinK). Life was good for him. He explored the Scoured Stars and made a name for himself. But, he had to face an enemy so evil, it had to be destroyed. With strong allies, they fought and won the battle. They past the tests of Sahjahns. But then, he had to make a choice. He was part of a ritual that destroyed an evil artifact.....and he transformed.
Now....he is Quasar the Star Lord. For him, freedom, teamwork and fairness are blessings. Tyranny, Cruelty and unfairness are to be opposed.
His symbol: a yellow dwarf star orbitting a red hyper giant. For Quasar, adventure may led (without meaning to) to misadventure. The freedom of space travel is a gift to all. When he gets the time to set up a priesthood, their
domains will be Good, Protection and Travel (Life should be simple).
I have played Pietro Quintellus from the very beinging of the game. And now that it's coming to an end, i'm very sad to say goodbye to a character that I loved to play so much.
"I look forward to the day we will all meet again....beyond the Rim."
Godspeed all.

When I played this adventure, my PC was the only one at the table who declined the invitation to become a new god.
Zefira Lachlan is a daredevil operative and an ace pilot who found both opportunity and purpose by joining the Starfinder Society. She lives for the thrill of seeing new stars and worlds, and has become a distinguished first contact specialist and a member of the Starfinder Forum. She joined the second expedition to the Scoured Stars very shortly after joining the Society, and returned to the system as a seasoned veteran to stop Dhurus from ascending to godhood. She was honored to be invited back to witness the conjunction, and when the threat of Dhurus returned, she fought fiercely to stop him once and for all.
However, once Zefira's team had passed all of these final tests, and the others chose to partake in the Tear's power, she declined to join them. Committing to becoming the guardian of a single system was too big a sacrifice for this born wanderer. She would remain mortal, and continue to travel the vast galaxy as a representative of the Starfinder Society. But she vowed to return to the Scoured Stars from time to time, with the hope of once more seeing her oldest friend, who had remained behind to play the role of conscience to an ancient god when he finally awakened.

Kait'lax was glad they had time to say goodbye to the children they'd never met.
The shirren had entered the Society as a mechanic obsessed with vidgames and what they considered a 'live-action' vidgame: building a combat drone, even giving it the name 'Killdroid' so there could be no mistake what they were bringing to the table. And they did get to use their drone to stab a fair number of hostiles - including a satisfying number of jinsuls — during their time as a Starfinder.
The mechanic barely survived the Scoured Stars invasion, though, and took this as a challenge to optimize the drone further. They constantly tinkered, adding new or improved weapons, mods that improved its combat capabilities, and increasing armor, to the point where they neglected their own training.
However, the times when the Starfinder Society needed nothing but a wall of alloys with guns attached turned out to be few and far between. Kait'lax repaired starships, rescued hostages, and explored the galaxy, finding that their knowledge was worlds more valuable than their ability to cause harm.
Kait'lax also appeared as a contestant on game shows and shared the stage with Strawberry Machine Cake, and discovered that they wanted to be seen. Not for self-aggrandizement, though; they wanted to share their knowledge and experiences, and entertain while doing so.
That led to a rechristening (and repainting) of the drone and a new infosphere series starring the mechanic, 'Knowdroid's Corner'. The technical aspects of Kait'lax's society membership ranged from the niche to the classified, but they could always teach the basics and give viewers a glimpse of all the amazing places they traveled, both on Society missions and during downtime. Animated squox and colossi, cartoonish renkroda and ovibovoj, and all other manner of alien creatures interleaved themselves into lessons about science and technology. There was also music when possible, though the biggest act you could ever book was Neon & Noqual.
Being a Society agent was still how the mechanic paid the bills, though, and as they advanced — eventually joining the Forum and briefly considering a run for First Seeker — they found themself with fewer opportunities to explore and more requirements to fight. And fight they did, even to the end of a world, because it was what a Starfinder must do.
Eventually Kait'lax had come back to the Scoured Stars, been tested again, and apparently passed. Living through all of the major events of the Society's recent past only solidified in the mechanic's mind that they were better suited for the role of educator.
When Jadnura asked for volunteers to destroy the tear, Kait'lax thought about all their followers in the Pact Worlds. But they also thought about all the children of the izalguun, of Kreiholm, of the yet-unknown Scoured Stars species... and maybe even one day, children of a peaceful jinsul people. They have as much right to learning as the youth from their home, and would have fewer chances to receive it without the shirren's help.
They asked the former first seeker for a bit of time to put their affairs in order before the ritual, which Jadnura readily agreed to. Kaitlax ejected the radioactive material from their staff out an airlock, snapped Knowdroid's spear and removed key components from each of their firearms. And they used the drone's recording equipment to make a final broadcast for all of their followers, with a message to Fitch with details for its transmission - to a Wayfinder with many of their own offspring, from a Wayfinder who was only ever a vicarious parent.
That done, Kait'lax returned to complete their duties as a Starfinder and begin those as a fledgling divine herald of Kadrical. They claimed the title Master of Education, ready to being the light of truth to any in the Scoured Stars who sought it.
Many days later, a drone stood alone in the field of a holocamera, replaying the final mortal words of a host who has dedicated their last years to creating fun and educational content for children. "...but now I will be helping to teach other children, far from Absalom Station, who don't have all the resources you do. You all made this channel a wonderful place, beyond my imagining..." There is a choked sob as the drone raised its arm to wave. "...and I will miss each and every one of you. But now it is your turn. Learn all you can, and share all you learn. This is Kait'lax, saying, 'Farewell, my dearest friends.'" After the recording ended, the drone held up a datapad displaying a pixelated strawberry and powered down for the final time.
