Aether Appendage

Rules Discussion

Hello, I have a question about Aether Appendage.

Is it possible to use an holding weapon by an Aether Appendage to attack when the character hold an item needed two hands ?

Thanks for your future answer.

I did not find any strict rules about it, but seeing it listed as a prosthetic in the section "assistive items" i don't think it is intended as an extra limb.

Correct, The section on prosthetic items in the grand bazaar states they are meant to replace broken or missing bodyparts, You can use it with your current arm but it doesn't give you an extra arm.

Grand Bazaar pg. 69 Prostheses wrote:

A prosthesis is an artificial device designed to replace a missing or damaged body part. Prostheses are made from a variety of materials, including wood or metal for common prostheses and clockwork devices or rare materials for more expensive ones. Advancements in the prosthetic field mean that even the most basic of prostheses can provide the full range of functionality for a missing body part.

These magically engineered prostheses are tailored to go beyond just practicality for the avid adventurer. The various designs and uses mean that adventurers of all classes are bound to find a prosthesis geared toward their specific lifestyle. Additionally, some characters might want to make use of a magical prosthesis but not actually be missing the associated body part. In this case, a variant of the prosthesis is available that fits over the existing body part instead and uses the same statistics.

To answer a different interpretation of this question: Yes. The Aether Appendage, as a replacement for one of the characters two hands, can be used as one of the two hands holding a 2-hand weapon.

Yeah, it's not intended to give you an extra hand to hold things, but if you're using it on top of your arm (or missing an arm) it could do everything a normal arm could.
