There are long stretches of a Runesmith's career where they don't unlock access to any new runes.

Some more runes at 3/6/12/15 might be appreciated.

I agree on the need for more in-between levels. The exact levels can be debated. But I like the thaumaturge scaling. You get something at level 1, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 17. It's a little wonky but it concentrates the most gains in L5 to L11 where most games end up, it slow plays the first few early levels to make the class more approachable, but ultimately gives you more and cool options in that L5+ range when every other class is getting cool stuff.

I think odd level gains are best because even levels have class feats (I.e., every level has something exciting). Even the exemplar does 1, 3, 7, 8 with a feat, and 15 for levels related to gaining ikons or epitets.

I'm fine without more gradient so long as we have more runes on release

Could also link it to when your runic expertise ranks up a proficiency level, so 1, 7, 15, and 19. That does leave a bit of an awkward stretch in the middle there, so maybe also at 11?
