I've seen a few posts of late where characters become gods... I realize that there are no rules for this, so how have those who have received deification achieved this? Some homebrew system? Or is this just a GM stating that the character is now a god?
Not looking to get deified, just curious... seems like you would need a system where you could not only grant powers and spells, but also a system to interact with the sheep... perhaps even gain power through their worship?

There was a generic supplement put out by Wizards of the Coast called Primal Order that had a system for deities. This was a long time ago before they acquired the rights to D&D. It was not game specific and could work with any game system. They had rules for adapting it to most of the game systems that were out at the time.
I have written up a few demi-gods by combining the gestalt rules with mythic. Basically take a 20th level gestalt character and add 10 mythic tiers. All of them take longevity, beyond morality, and divine source as path abilities. Since they have longevity, I also give them the age adjustment for venerable age.

As far as actually becoming a deity, that's a GM decision. There is one high-level PFS adventure that includes a chance of your character becoming a spell-granting, worshiped demigod (or dead).

Back in the day we had a D&D system colloquially known as BECMI, that is Basic-Expert-Companion-Master-Immortal. Yes, there were actual rules on how to become Immortal (god) and god-level play. Paths to Immortality summarized here.
For the past several years I've been running Immortality quests as the endgame for our Mystara campaign. Two down, two to go.

More recently (but still a long time ago), and more-directly compatible, there was also the 3e Deities and Demigods. That (with tweaks) is probably what I would use if I was going to deify PCs in a game.

AIUI, the BECMI stuff was highly inconsistent as to whether immortals the local name for gods, or a separate thing distinct from them (IIRC one of the adventures even had immortals getting into trouble for impersonating gods IIRC).

Yup. If you go by the Gold Box, i.e. the Immortals supplement, Immortals are basically epic level folks with a few extras, and the adventures based on that go by that definition. Wrath of the Immortals, which is basically Known World/Mystara oriented, treats Immortals as gods and most of the actual modules refer to gods instead of Immortals, but then you have the Old Ones, which are basically like Overpowers in FR and later
In short, outside of the Gold Box, Immortal is generally meant in the Classical epithet sense.

As far as I’ve read for world building, PF1 authors looked to deities as plot devices rather than statted beings. If your power levels are high enough, theirs are just automatically higher. But that was for RP purposes for 1-20 settings.
What I want to know is if there is any GM guides or personal experiences having a lvl 18-20 party act as minor deities in a world full of 1-2 commoners.
