Revolutionary Idea: Make Solarian a SF-2E Kineticist

Hear me out, switch it to CON, drop all the weapon proficiency increases, switch it to Class DC Proficiency increases, use Class DC -10 to attack like a Kineticist allow it to add STR to damage for 1 action Strike and add both ON and STR on a special 2 action strike. Boom the class is almost entirely fixed other Solar Nimbus/Solar Shield and the fact it needs passive movement abilities or Stellar Rush needs to be just a class feature and not a feat..


'[Insert class] but make it sci-fi' is something the devs have pretty much stated they're trying to avoid. It's the reason behind soldier's shift to AoE weapons and operative gaining a more focused identity.


Yeah, no. I think everyone can agree nobody wants classes to be "X class but in space" since both systems are meant to be compatible with each other.

Kineticists are welcome to play in space anyway, there is no reason to do significant changes like that to a class that is pretty much a martial weapon user, the class already takes some great inspiration from the kineticist.

I like the niche the Solarion is carving out for itself. with it's variance in attunement making you consider which ability you use based on your attunement.

No, you can just be a Kineticist in Starfinder times. I would assume they still exist.


Well at this time I feel like it be easier if it ran everything off of a single stat then become a Kineticist, this was from before i realized how interesting Solarian was. However the Solar Flare is a big problem and needs major work to function since it needs Dex and caps at master proficiency with no item bonus to attack. The nimbus feels weak without feats to upgrade it which I suppose at level 4 is fine...Sorta those makes it hard to balance nimbus and if it is only on selected damage it should be full level of reduction instead of half...

Yeah, the Kineticist is a class I really want to play in Starfinder since "yeah, I can just conjure as much air and water as I want whenever I want" is a really handy ability to have when you live in space.


Also need to make new Elements for the Kineticist, especially for Starfinder. Like Void which would be rather useful for space travel/combat.

I think you mean 'Space', since 'Void' refers to Negative energy and undead (not saying there shouldn't also be a Void Kineticist, just that it doesn't need to be made for Starfinder).
