Hm, likely player's and GM's choice. The Howl of the Wild book does not seem to name any specifics. The awakened meerkat, Tukalo, is probably over 3000 years old. Considering an awakened animal can also be a familiar, really it'd be based on the specifics of the awakening ritual on whether it's more interesting to the story if the awakened animal is short lived, moderately lived, or long lived.

what moosher said
It is likely to be highly dependant on the awaken ritual
one thing to keep in mind: since they get more access to healing magic and proper health care, they are usually going to live notibly longer then in the wild anyway
higher cognitive functions rumorwise also help with survivability :P
but the limits are ultimately how, why and by whom they have been awakened and what ritual in question was used

It's up to the player and the GM.
If you want to play a short-lived animal who's living life to the fullest, you can.
If you want to play them as ignorant of their mortality, you can.
If you want to play one that was severely traumatized by their awakening as they are now all too keenly aware of their own mortality...you can (you sick bastard).
If you want to play one that has had their life extended from their awakening, you can.
The wide breadth of options is but one of the many reasons why I love this game.

Here's something worth mentioning:
Decide your character's age and note it on the third page of the character sheet. The description for your character's ancestry in Chapter 2 gives some guidance on the age ranges of members of that ancestry. Beyond that, you can play a character of whatever age you like. There aren't any mechanical adjustments to your character for being particularly old, but you might want to take it into account when considering your starting attribute modifiers and future advancement. Particularly young characters can change the tone of some of the game's threats, so it's recommended that characters are at least young adults.
While lifespans can affect it, you can also assume that awakening an animal changed how it ages... and it's different than regular animals.
Well, except tortoises, those can still live over 100 years XD
