Now that I think about it.
As a Guardian it feels like both Taunt and Raise Shield are very regularly going to be a part of almost every turn of actions. Which means the Guardian is very regularly going to have only one action to do... anything else.
Combine that with Intercept Strike being a reaction that might be used every turn as well... isn't every Guardian ever going to do the same thing three quarters of the time?

◆ Raise Shield

Maybe combine Taunt with Raise Shield as a base feature? Maybe make Taunt a free action?
Basically ease up on the action economy.

There's a level 2 feat for that in the playtest
SHIELDING TAUNT [one-action] FEAT 2
FLOURISH, GUARDIAN
Requirements You are wearing a shield.
By banging loudly on your shield, you get the attention of even the most stubborn of foes. Raise a Shield and then Taunt a creature. Your Taunt gains the auditory trait, and the target takes a –1 circumstance penalty to their save.

Where are people getting the idea that you WANT to Taunt every turn? It seems like that would be bad to your overall party health. It's not like there's an actual Threat Meter you have to keep filled. Taunt as needed and position and play as other frontliners have so you can mitigate the need to open yourself up to blows.
And as has always been the case in PF2, PCs will get hit. Spread the HP loss around.

The sense that you must have to use Taunt every turn comes from the idea that once that you are a very heavy armored char that probably does less damage than your allies you risk to be ignored by the enemies and because it's presented like one of the main chassis feature of the class like monks have Flurry of Blows.
But I agree Taunt every turn probably will be a very bad idea in most cases.

If you don't Taunt then what are you suppose to do? Actually Guardian is the first Martial with more then 1 choice of core class features/mechanic at level 1 isn't it? (If you exclude Kineticist as a martial). I guess the only other one is Champion with their focus spell & Reaction but as a martial they only get their Reaction.
I suppose Examplar and Guardian are in the same boat for this.

I see Taunt more for that annoying creature that's on your backline already, or that it either way likes to spend its actions moving around.
For the regular stuff, just go in front and bodyblock and Strike to draw attention like normal.
That's why I don't really get the argument of "but vs my Taunt target my armor proficiency is equal to everyone else", cause vs everyone else, it isn't.

What does a Champion do to keep enemies focused on them? Animal barbarians? Sword and board fighters? Has everyone not known how to protect allies without an ability up until now?
To be fair, those classes have quite a bit more on offer to make themselves a target. Better damage, for one.
