Hot take: If you want a more martial cleric, it's a fighter multiclassing into cleric.
I understand that might be a dissatisfying solution to someone who wants to play their character without multiclassing but in my opinion the only way to achieve the level of fighting capability is to play a martial class with multiclassing into cleric.
I don't think such a thing should be it's own class, because you can already achieve it.
What maybe should exist is something like the magus but with the divine spell list and its own gimmick for damage. Which would honestly position it like what the Inquisitor was in 1E.

TBH it felt like homebrew to me too. Especially with the detailed proposed changes / classes.
