...Do you think paizo will 1) rename them 2) replace them with new devils or...
...and this is my favorite option...
...3) use it as opportunity to have come back of more obscure 1e fiends like Ukobach(tinder devil, CR 4), gidim(posession devil, CR 6) or even chortov(..I don't think this devil got title in council of thieves, anyway CR 9)?
...I really like idea of them bringing back forgotten pathfinder original fiends to replace "iconic OGL ones". Like I think lot of the ogl fiends overshadowed lot of the similar level ranges :'D

I'd be happy to totally drop Deamons. I always feel conflicted on how to pronounce them and they feel oddly gamified to me. "We need these to fit the alignment box" not because they make compelling stories.
And with the removal of alignment we don't need them.
That said I'm sure they aren't going anywhere, and as a played I'd be happy to never fight a barbazu again.

You say that, but daemons are both easy to pronounce phonetically and my favorite of the three main fiends xD
But yeah, I'mma just saying we don't need replacement barbazu that is identical to barbazu but flavorwise different ;D Since some of the old devils that never got more than one appearance already filled hellish infantry role overapping with barbazu a bit

Daemons I do not being axed by the simple merit of the fact out of the core trio they're the ones with the least similarities to their d&d counterparts, being pretty much PF original enemies beyond one or two minor similarities (like the fact the name of the Oinodaemon sounds somewhat similar to the Oinoloth, but even then that's pretty much where their similarities end), plus all their major links to the setting's lore that'd make them incredibly hard to remove.
(Also I really like daemons are actually my favourite of the various fiend types and I'd be sad if they vanished lol)

I'd like to see the take on "sin" and "you're bad and you're going to hell" a bit refined.
It always felt a bit odd to me that there seemed to be a kind of overlap between the various fiend species on which kinds of bad people they covered. In a way all "sinners" could go to the Abyss while Hell wanted all of them too. Daemons seemed to have a vague claim on souls based on what killed you which doesn't really square with most alignments sending you to an afterlife based on who you are.

That's because everyone who goes to hell gets made into lemure who are used to mold higher rank devils, daemons don't seem to be as much spawned by mortal deaths as they are formed into personification of mortal deaths as they plan to kill every mortal and demons have weird dealio where mortals turned into larva dont' become demons, they explode and sins of mortals turns into multiple demons.

Plus, we have some lore that souls judged to Abaddon are presented with a devil and a demon trying to argue them away to their respective planes- it's the one plane Pharasma is actively biased against because it's so aggressively set against the cycle of souls.
