Darechaser for the Gauntlet

Advice

I am going to be briefly playing The Gauntlet module with my group, and immediately the premise made me want to play a Darechaser

But beyond that, I don't have much idea on how to optimize this suboptimal Prestige class for a level 8 character

Do any of you wise beards have any feelings on this issue?

Dark Archive

i like brawler 2/ UC rogue 5/Dare chaser 1

I'd take the healers hands feat and the skill unlock for healing. Human with the focused study alt trait to have skill focus heal and skill focus perception.

also max out heal, perception, and disable device

With that scaling bonus to Acrobatics, I was thinking a Goblin with Roll With It.

But any of the Vexing Mouser type builds could benefit from the scaling bonus to Climb. Ratfolk, Grippli, and Kobolds all make excellent choices for their own reasons. Kobolds have a Fighter archetype that might work with something like this.

Since the PrC is related to Kugress, I think it could be cool to try work in something like Intrepid Rescuer.

That is a good idea. It might pair well with Unarmed Combat build, the Mystic Corsair Swashbuckler, and Pummeling Charge (Which it cannot get with Darechaser and being level 8)

Goblin with the Cave Crawler alternative racial feature starts with a Climb speed... I would still go Vexing Mouser even as a Cave Crawler Goblin, or Monkey Goblin, that has Roll With It.

There is a Weapon Trick for TWF that allows you to climb with piercing weapons if you have 8 ranks in Climb. So the thought of a small character with a racial climb speed scampering all over their opponents, literally using daggers/kunai to climb, is just awesome.

Grippli with the Glider and Jumper alternative racial features make excellent Vexing Mousers, as well. Just leap onto your enemy's back, and crawl all over them stabbing their vital organs in alphabetical order. Then do a backflip off of them, and glide to the ground.

Kobolds with their Gliding Wings and Prehensile Tail alternative racial features, can do something similar using their Swarm Fighter archetype. I still like 5 levels of Vexing Dodger UnRogue for Limb-Climber, Improved Dirty Trick, Underfoot Agility, Dex-to-DMG, Underfoot Trickster, and Rogue's Edge for Climb. But the more levels you get of Swarm Fighter, the better it gets... especially if you are using the Kobold Fighter FCB with all this. This may not be the best option for your predtige class.

Ratfolk don't have a climb speed, but can still make pretty decent Vexing Mousers, especially if you have multiple Ratfolk playing with their Swarming shenanigans. Your prestige class offers abilities that can get you a climb speed, so this still wouldn't be a completely bad way to go.

I will see if I can think of something to play off of the Rage/Adrenaline interchange... besides a Mutant Goblin Feral Gnasher Barbarian. Lol.

So I am thinking of Halfling Mouser 1/Vexing Dodger 4/ ??? 1 / Darechaser X

I am going to play them like a Cowboy Rodeo. What should that ??? class be to meet the BAB 5 requirements for Darechaser? I was thinking possibly Slayer (What archetype?) or Mysterious Stranger for some pistol action

3 suggestions. Elementalist shifter for swift action +1d6 elemental damage. Snakebite striker brawler for 1d6 sneak attack. Unarmed fighter for proficiency in all monk weapons, unarmed strike and a style feat without needing to meet the prerequisites (this would be my first choice as there are plenty of good style feats out there).

I thought of Brawler not long after I posted. Unarmed Fighter is a good idea.

I also thought of Scaled Fist Unchained Monk

I need some ideas as to how to fill it out. I am in need of 4 feats, a Rogue Talent, and a Darechaser Talent
