Abomination Vaults is definitely a no-go, as is Blood Lords. Nothing that fits those triggers immediately springs to mind for Strength of Thousands or Quest for the Frozen Flame.

Just inside the opening cover of each AP volume, on the same page as the index there will be a "Content Warning" if one is appropriate. Sometimes it's something you can work around (Book 1 of Strength of Thousands has a warning for "in Chapter 3, a few stark depictions of animal cruelty and abuse" but is otherwise pretty clean. Knowing the potential pain points, the GM can certainly adjust them to make them less of an issue (I certainly don't remember noteworthy animal cruelty in SoT; but I think this is about how the Gremlins are mean to Binji?)
Agents of Edgewatch, Abomination Vaults, and Blood Lords are full-on "no-go" for this sort of thing. There's surprisingly little circus stuff in Extinction Curse though.

Agents of Edgewatch a big no go. It's one of the most brutal APs for gore and body horror.
Age of Ashes isn't terrible.

As player in Agents of Edgewatch, lot of it is written like adaptation of buddy cop movie to TRPG format, so GM might have to do major adjustments anyway if they know their party would feel constrained by action movie tropes :'D So going step further and toning down the gore parts wouldn't be too much extra work if they are already going to do major rewrites.
(that said, yeah as written definitely not as first two books are very brutal)

I moved onto 'Extinction Curse' and thought that running a circus would be far away from body horror right? But then I went to the player's guide on that path and saw the clown thing on page 5.
In general Extinction Curse is gorier than Strength of Thousands and probably wouldn't be best here, but for what it's worth based on the stats of that clown thing:
I know that this is mostly for PF2 APs, but can (and should) these kinds of warning be added to First Edition APs (at least for the PDF versions)?

I don't know how much of a financial incentive there is to go back and edit the old PDFs, and some PF1 APs *did* have content warnings (e.g. Book 6 of Hell's Rebels.)
It's just that PF2 has standardized things like the Pathfinder Baseline so content warnings are expected when appropriate.

And as mentioned they are not always there in 1E?
Do people have any views on any important triggers for the popular 1E APs such as Runelords and Crimson Throne?
Runelords - Body horror definitely.
Crimson Throne - the pandemic might well be quite triggering after recent events? What do people think of the maidens? Would that trigger certain folks as written?

Every 2e AP has content tags from Aaron somewhere in the comments of the product page, I believe. I wish they were just in the listing.
The content warnings are normally on the same page as the table of contents, is one is needed. Right at the bottom.
This is useful if you're flipping through the books at your FLGS, but less useful if you're ordering PDFs on the internet. They should probably put the content warning somewhere you can see before you purchase the thing if you're buying the digital version.
