Or the President in the last episode of Secret Invasion

President Ritson can’t see the trailer for Loki. He’s a fictional character without your viewers access to the film franchise.

Your meta argument that he didn’t mean the Asgardians because the movies define the Asgardians as gods is dumb. When you said you were giving it up the other day, you should have.

Blame Tristan for me refusing to not yield.

Just cause you don't understand that they are aliens, don't put the blame on me

No dude, blame your incessant need to have the last word that you exhibit up and down this section of the forum.

The Meta narrative defines Asgardians as advanced aliens who are perceived by some cultures as gods. They are both. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Their existence in the narrative however, has no bearing on the actions of the character of Ritson because he is WITHIN the narrative and not AWARE of the narrative.

In before the lock!

Dirtypool,

YOU'RE the one with the incessant need to get the last word in! EVERY TIME I explain something you go and say "OH no!!! You're wrong!! And I'm always right!" And "You're such a poor loser" and on and on....

And yet...

Guys. It's a f#+&ing TV show. On the Mickey Mouse channel.

You're risking getting posts deleted, locked, other moderator discipline as warranted. I could be very wrong about this, but least some of you appear to be getting seriously riled up. Like it's affecting your mood and your day, possibly. (If it's not, I apologize for assuming).

And no, it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong.

Because it's over an argument over a TV show on the Mickey Mouse channel, with people who I presume are total strangers to you who, outside of this message board, have no impact on you in any way in your actual real life.

I post here cause it's fun to talk about things I like, and sometimes things I don't like, on the TV (streaming service, etc.). When it stops being fun, I try real hard to remember to stop. Sometimes I fail, but eventually my brain starts working again and I leave it.

I mean you do you, but my advice is maybe, in the loving words of these goddesses, go touch grass. (Transcript, in case video does not work or you don't want to go to "X".)

I yell because I care. With the caveat I am also a total internet stranger, I'm worried about y'all.

But morality and real world application on Space Opera show on Mountain channel is par for the course. Pot meet kettle.

Forget it DeathQuaker, it is InternetTown.

Firstly, I am not worked up over this at all.

Secondly, moderation of a web forum is not a particularly risky thing. If my posts get deleted, or god forbid a thread gets locked, the world does continue spinning.

Thirdly, Seitz, I’m not the only one who has commented on your need to get the final word. The difference between you and I is that for me these forums are a sometimes food.

It’s a bunch of cape stuff, is it REALLY that important to waste this many days on arguing that the President meant the Skrulls but not the Asgardians?

Ah, chaos, run thy course. Asgardians are aliens. Gods need worship. Who in the MCU worships the Asgardians?

So New Asgard is full of gods from another planet who pose as a threat to earth due to their enhanced abilities?

Sounds like an extremist President would want them off planet being as the are powerful alien...gods

The thing is, if an asgardian is walking into your nuclear facility, they're not being subtle about it. Alarms are blaring, your guards are being thrown around, you can call in the avengers or the army or tony stark to go fight them.

If a skrull is in your nuclear facility its just "Hi bob" till they impersonate people and launch the missile. Or they just take over the lives of the people who can order the missile launches... you know. The people that make the decisions about what happens. Who are not usually the targets and probably don't appreciate it, hence being extra murdery.

I think the background Asgardians could be pretty subtle

Loki could. But in general the Asgardians don't come with that power set out of the box. They're no more of a threat to the entire nation or to the people in power than your average human who can study magic or touch an alien artifact or fall in a vat of radioactive waste and get superpowers.

They're a threat to people around them, but in a normal , detectable way. Their physical toughness makes them a threat to police and military troops and superhero response teams, but hey...

"If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all 'part of the plan'. But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!"

So not gods then

But that's by contrast with skrulls specifically, not aliens in general. A random Kree or Chitauri or whatever other kinds of aliens we've seen isn't that kind of sneaky threat and are usually less physically powerful than Asgardians, but he wanted all aliens banned.

I'm not not sure if in the context of the show all aliens meant those damned skrulls because the show was about skrulls or if he was being more inclusive (exclusive?) and we didn't see any action against non skrulls. The asgardians seemed pretty popular and he might right in an exception for them.

The main point was that the asgardians DON"T pose a threat to the earth. They don't pose a threat to the leadership. They pose a threat to the army and to heroes. Skrulls directly threaten the country and their leaders. I wouldn't expect the response to be the same.

The asgardians also make one of the best defenses against other aliens: and you can tell when they're being an asset and when they're being a threat.

All I know is I still stand my by idea and Al Ewing supports me. :P

Well la-dee-da.

What is that idea again, that President Ritson read the script for Thor: Love & Thunder so he knows that Christian Bale's character considered Asgardians to be gods and that is why he didn't include them in his anti alien policy?

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Once again, trying to skirt the rules on the profanity filter. That's actually a violation of the TOS.

I'm harping on the idea that you think a fictional character has access to information that you gained only from watching a movie set in the universe he is a character in. I'm mentioning Ritson because he is the most SENIOR authority on who is considered an alien in the fictional policy he instigated about fighting Aliens on his fictional Earth.

See when determining who is an alien and who isn't, he can't log into Disney+ and watch the Thor movie, any more than you can watch what is happening in my home right now.

I'm sorry you don't understand the concept of the fourth wall, but I know Al Ewing does.

To be fair, if it was President She-Hulk, then watching the MCU and learning things would make total sense. But it's President Ritson.

And I realize this is highly, highly unlikely, but I am just putting out into the universe that I would devour every single episode, moment, and merchandise of a Sonia Falsworth series. Beyond just being awesome, she's clearly the evil test tube child of Peggy Carter and Dottie Underwood and I am HERE for her, forever. #Carterwood

Yes, please! Sonia Falsworth is exactly what I wanted, and did not get, from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who feels smarmy and smug, without being fun and effective, like Sonia. Gotta earn that sass (as Dottie also did!), and Sonia has totally earned it in her brief appearance.
