General Inquiry about the positions listed in Paizo's career tab

Paizo General Discussion

Are people who live outside of the USA and the mentioned states automatically disqualified from an editor position?

Didn't know where else to ask :p

The best place to ask your question is by sending an email to the address listed in the position

Quote:

If you're interested in applying, please send a resume and cover letter to

hr@paizo.com

The actual information says

Quote:
Location: The position is currently remote if you are a resident of the state of Washington or Indiana. If you choose to work on location rather than remotely, you will be required to report to Paizo’s office in Redmond, Washington. Relocation assistance for qualified candidates may be available.

My reading of that is:

If you live in the state of Washington or Indiana, you are allowed to work remotely. Interpreting from that: If you don't live in one of those two states, you cannot work remotely.

If you want to work on location (ie in Redmond, Washington) they might pay some of the costs of your move as part of the job offer.

You don't have to live any particular place in order to apply for the job.

But, really, just send an email to get the actual answer

Paizo currently has two remote developers who live in Winnipeg, Canada. I'd say apply and see what happens.

Hmm

More options for remote work is a union demand, if I remember right.

I'm curious about why Indiana is an option, but not other states.

That does seem pretty random!

Most stuff like that is due to tax rates or needing (for some reason) to be incorporated in that particular location.

Indiana because an executive still lives there so they've already had to set up state taxes for an employee there.

Has there been any update on the Union?

Not much yet. Their website or Twitter account is the best resource.

Contract negotiations take time, especially with with a change of Paizo’s top management.

I have no inside knowledge but suspect that because of Gen Con, Paizo already has a registered presence in Indiana which makes employment there possible.

Again it's because an executive lives there so they've figured out taxation things already.

This is the main reason. If Gen Con had been held somewhere else for the last 20 years, we'd have things set up there instead.
