Once again, I'm putting one of my characters into my gestalt group. This time, I'm going with my very first ever character - Lini the Archaeologist Bard. She died at level 2 and I haven't had a chance to replay her.
Lini focuses on tripping and disarming with a whip. She's also the skill monkey that knows all the languages. Think a short female Indiana Jones with pink hair. In her original build, I went with the trait Nimble Fingers Keen Mind to get Disable Device as a class skill. But in her gestalt build, she's taking 4 levels of Unchained Rogue before going Fighter. So she already has Disable Device as a class skill. I need a new trait.
The other trait is Fate's Favored to increase her luck bonuses. She is also a Gnome with Gift of Tongues, Magical Linguist, and Academician. Is there a fun useful trait I could go with or should I grab good old Reactionary?

well +2 to initiative (there are like 3 different traits that give that) is always good.
- as an Archeologist (if your GM goes by strict raw) you do not gain anymore rounds of performance for leveling up. so the feat lingering performance is a must.
as for a trait if the GM allow you to start in the pathfinder society then
Maestro of the Society will get you 3 more rounds per day (which turn into 9 more with lingering performance). so in case your GM goes by raw you might need to go for that.
(and now you know how the Pathfinder society keep finding all them nice\horrific ancient items, all the Archeologists belong to it. and fate favors them..)
- if you don't have a problem with your rounds of performance per day then ,as a bard, one the most powerful traits out there can be easily set up with a bard's spells.
taking strength of submission and getting a permanent compulsion cast on you- As a bard the level 1 bard spell sow thought can work. i go with the thought 'I'm the best!' or 'Razmir is great!' (to match the trait, and the moment you start doubting it you know it was dispelled ;) this will net you a +1 to attack and damage. that is equal to weapon focus (with all weapons) and half a weapon specialization (with all weapons). that as trait bonus stack with everything else.
as bards have limited known spells you might want to just get a scroll for that one, but be weary of dispelling. in a pinch bless will also activate this (and it stacks as bless is morale). id buy a scroll of sow thought and get bless as known spell as it can help the whole party.
in game my Razmir-following bard was converting others to Razmir. got 3 of my teammates to convert. aka additional traits feat. and sowed the thought 'Razmir is great' to help them keep faith. (a bard converting his team-mates to a made up religion? pretty sure im the first to think of that!)
- i also like toilcrafter to let one craft +1 weapons and armors without the need for a feat or even caster level, but mind you , you can't upgrade said items (but can still be sold when you get better ones). and since you must use the skill you picked, one skill can't really be used to craft all different variety of weapons and armors. (not sure which profession would even let you craft anything with it, but try to get your GM to go with Blacksmith :).
mind you the last 2 require a belief in religions not suitable to all characters...
EDIT : for some reason the above Strength of Submission trait is not a religion trait but a Faith one, and can not be taken with fate's favored. this is weird as it require you to follow a religion, like all of the religion traits and non of the faith's.
i'd tag this as not wanting to acknowledge Razmir as a real religion. and press to have it changed ;).
(seem like non of the religion traits belong to Razmir as if it's not a suitable religion, this is a conspiracy! Stop oppressing my religion!)

Heather 540, I think I would go for Accelerated Drinker over Reactionary, personally. Or Prehensile Whip. Or Heirloom Weapon for its AoO or maneuver bonus?
ZZA NI, I absolutely love that business with your Razmir-worshipping Bard! The Strength of Submission + Sow Thoughts combination is wonderful... and the use of Additional Traits to convert, I mean convince, others to share in your shenanigans is brilliant. Doing god's work... as a Bard! That is also good advice about using a scroll for Sow Thoughts and learning Bless. I just really like pretty much anything related to Razmir... for whatever reason, his whole story intrigues me to no end.

I just looked at the archetype page. No idea the amount of rounds didn't go up. Guess I'm going with Maestro so I have enough to use. Definitely grabbing Lingering Performance.
Prehensile Whip is a fun little trait. Maybe I'll grab Additional Traits. I should have enough room since thanks to Fighter and EITR.

a lot of people think that's a miss by the writer. talk to the GM maybe he'll let you gain them +2 rounds for leveling.
were in the advice section not the rules section and that is something a lot of players think is RAW not RAI.

Don’t forget that your Archaeologist luck also applies to skills. Taking the extra rounds of performance is a much better choices than gaining a single skill point per level. Being able to get a scaling bonus to all skills is a lot better than gaining an extra skill point per level. Lingering performance is probably the single best feat for an Archaeologist Bard. I would take it even if you are putting your FCB into extra performance. The only stronger FCB for the archetype is gaining extra spells known, but that is not an option for gnomes.
Make sure to take Heroism as you of your first 2nd level spells. It stacks with Archaeologist luck and last a long time. Between the two of those you get a huge bonus on just about everything you do.

How about Irrepressible, to use charisma instead of wisdom for Will saves against charm and compulsion effects?

That's a pretty good one. Too bad it's a Faith trait so I can't take it and Fate's Favored.
Turns out that we can take a drawback to gain a third trait. So I can take Prehensile Whip if I want to. We use the Background & Occupation rules and we're allowed to create a custom one if we can come up with a good justification. I can make the drawback part of that.
