Ranged attack rolls use Dexterity as their ability modifier.
Thrown weapons apply Dexterity to ranged attack rolls and Strength to damage rolls.

I had a who's on first moment LOL. I initially thought you were commenting on the power level of a trait that would add STR to attack. Then realized that the name of the trait is literally 'Brutal'.
