How does this work?

Rules Questions

Can someone help me figure out exactly how this works? It's from the Race Builder.

Paralytic Venom: Injury; save Fort DC 10 + 1/2 the user’s Hit Dice + the user’s Constitution modifier; frequency 1/ round for 6 rounds; effect 1d2 Dex; cure 1 save.

Does it only work if the attack hits? Does the victim lose 1d2 dex every failed save for the next 6 rounds?

If the attack hits... yes, that is a requirement. Injury poisons just get rid of thr onset time, usually.

Also yes, they lose 1D2 Dex per round, for the next 6 rounds... assuming they fail 6 saves in a row.

Ok, thank you.

Also, after one successful save it's over. So if you save the first time there is no more additional saves to make.

Keep in mind that you still aren't poisoned if you save your first save, even if the poison requires more than one cure to remove it.

Also keep in mind that if you successfully hit and cause damage in an attack, but DR reduces the dmg of that attack to 0, then the poison does not affect the target and it wouldn't be required to Save at all. You must cause at least 1 point of damage (after DR) for an Injury poison to affect a target and force them to Save.
