I’ve got a character concept I want to put through the Kingmaker AP. He’sa traveling Alchemist Merchant looking to start a new career. Hired by the Swordlords to form a new kingdom and take over as the realms treasurer.

I would love to be a player at a Kingmaker table too!

Same here.

Same for me, having gone through about 4 recruitments unsuccesfully. The competition for this particular adventure path is beyond fierce and there are usually around 5 to 6 applications per spot. The chances to get in are very low in general.

I'd be down for Kingmaker, I have a couple character concepts that I'd like to try.

Greetings! One of my players brought this thread to my attention, and we thought it might be a good idea to drop by and look for a couple new players for our Kingmaker game.

We are in the midst of Book 2, although we don't necessarily adhere too strictly to the AP as written. The party has founded its kingdom, named Tamlyn, and governed it for eight in-game months so far.

Our party is currently level 5 and consists of three members: Lord Ahto "Cracked-Jaw" Ulrych, an Abadaran human inquisitor and our ruler; Wonky Prong Jr., a gnome investigator/hunter and our magister; and Addison Kavinka (nee Lane), aka the Vermilion Vixen, a human vigilante and our (recently wed) royal enforcer.

The other leadership roles are currently occupied by NPCs and former PCs, so they could be potentially reassigned to new characters.

Recent in-game developments include investigations into the sabotage of the town's granary, the creation of an accord with the local fey that offers them protected status as "First Citizens" of Tamlyn, and a successful Crystalhue festival during the kingdom's first winter.

The party is presently on an expedition to the River Kingdoms town of Uringen, researching a lead on a potential cure for Wonky's father, who is currently suffering from the Bleaching. New characters could thus be introduced as the party travels westward into the River Kingdoms.

...

Anyhow, enough about us for now. What kind of character concepts did you guys have in mind? I'm excited to see what ideas you've developed.

My character concept is the first post, a traveling merchant looking to establish an actual shop. Probably an Alchemist with a burned feat in leadership so that he can get a manager for free.

First off, many thanks to Vayelan and his players for offering an opportunity for some of us!

My last fully written submission for the AP was this alias, though that was for a fresh start, and some elements in the backstory might have to be altered. Perhaps the class too, since he was orginially intended as a swashbuckler going into inquisitor or bard. I could easily remake him into any class relating to Erastil, such as a cleric, hunter or ranger. His kingdom posts would depend on the exact build but generally favor High Priest or combat-based ones with Str, Dex or Wis requirement.

In short, Raevis was once part of house Rogarvia, far down the inheritance line and skilled if somewhat of a rogue. He was disinherited after losing an arranged duel against Jamaldi Aldori, which left his swordhand permanently injured. Though this was the official reason for exile from the Royal Court, no doubt past transgressions against his father and his political allies played a role as well. For some reason, or perhaps *because* he was severed from the house, he didn't disappear afterwards when the rest of them did, and started rebuilding a new life among settlers of the stolen lands down south as a follower of Erastil. This worked until he one day returned to find his new wife murdered, which prompts him to come out of hiding. He was intent on making a deal: offering his services in return for aid in his revenge.

A second concept I had for an earlier recruitment was Aerin, a half-elven diplomatic ambassador for Kyonin, who was originally also written for a partway entry.

As a result of a dalliance between an elven aristocraft and a human from the experimental human town of Greengold, Elvish elitism and looking down on 'less cultured races' left her father in an awkward spot on what to do with his bastard daughter. Eventually, he figured the best he could do was make her a diplomactic envoy of sorts in a far-off region. Aerin herself accepted and decided to pick the burgeoning kingdom of the stolen lands for specific reasons: first, it made for a much greater opportunity to leave her own mark on it. Second, while no settling attempt normally ever lasted there, she figured chances of finding lost Elven or Fey relics in this 'untamed land' were much higher than most other places. She views this as a double opportunity to make her worth realised by Elven society at large. The mystery of 'why' nothing ever lasted also intriques her more scholary side.

Aerin is intended to be a Lore Oracle (leans towards knowledge and social skills instead of healing, fights martially with divine buffs) or a shaman with the Life and Lore spirits (intended to be a full caster relying on hexes, great healing, and offensive save or suck spells. Lore spirit grants shamans a limited number of wizard spells of their choice to help out here). For kingdom posts she probably fits High Priest the best for shaman and Grand Diplomat for the oracle build.

If interest among the group is high I'll gladly make Aerin into a full alias.

I am always looking for a good game and DM Vayelan is a great DM. I will adjust this character if you like or just wait and see who you pick?

Okay, so I had two concepts in mind.

One is a changeling ranger of the Green Faith, Katrine, although she could also work as a druid if your group needs a full divine caster more than a bow ranger. Born to a green hag, she was left on the doorstep of her human father and his half-elven wife in Cordelon. Given that both of them are rangers, they knew from baby Katrine's eyes what she was. They discussed the matter, and decided that the best revenge on the hag for fooling the husband with an illusion of his wife would be to raise the changeling in love with the full knowledge of her ancestry. So they did, teaching young Katrine the ways of the Green Faith and (once she got old enough) exactly what her birth mother would do to her if she followed the hag's call. She trained to fight monstrous humanoids such as hags, determined to find and slay her evil progenitor. But given that hags usually work in covens, Katrine needs allies. Perhaps if she helps the rulers of the fledgling kingdom of Tamlyn, they'll help her in return. She would be suited for Marshal as a ranger or High Priest as a druid.

The other character is a halfling sorcerer, Rissa Silvertongue, with the fey bloodline. She comes from a family of nomadic river folk descended from ex-slaves. They live on houseboats traveling up and down the Sellen, fishing, hunting, and trading as they go. Unfortunately for Rissa, the touch of the fey makes her very different from her kin, and not in a good way. The other halflings feared her powers of enchantment and illusion, especially since she had trouble controlling her abilities as a child. Once she reached adulthood, they gave her traveling gear and some coin and kicked her off the boat. Since then Rissa has wandered the River Kingdoms, making her way as a spellcaster for hire and searching for lore about the fey whose influence has dictated her life. She's somewhat notorious for her skill with words, able to sway hardened hearts and spin convincing lies without resorting to magic. Rissa is a devout follower of Sivanah, although she usually doesn't talk about her faith. She would be suited for Grand Diplomat.

If you're interested in either character, I can whip up a sheet in a couple days!

Isn’t it amazing how many people want to play Kingmaker? I don’t think any other AP gets this much love. Tell you guys what. I’ll try to DM (my first time) but there would be some expectations involved. I wouldn’t have any maps or handouts, so classic D&D experience would be applied, also sources would be limited to just a few books. I’m thinking Core, APG, UM, UC, and UE. You can roll for stats, (4d6 reroll 1s) or 20 pt. Buy. You may choose the point buy after you roll. Again, I’m not experienced in DMing so take that as you may.
