Mechanics Drone and Personal Upgrades

Advice

Ok, I know that drones are unable to recieve a Personal Upgrade.(As far as I am aware)
I am considering allowing my groups Mech to have 1 for his drone.
Would this cause any serious problems from peoples perspective?
Allowing the Mech to spend a few grand to up the AB and AC by 1 or 2 I don't see as too much of a problem, however I have not played or DMed Starfinder for long (1 failed attempt as a player before the current events and 1 running game as a DM.) so I don't know if there is some issue with such an upgrade

Drones are weak enough that I personally don't consider this to be a problem. You're effectively getting the drone +2 to hit in a typical adventure path, and while that's significant, it won't break the game. As always though, look to your own group. If your mechanic is already dominating combats, you may want to hold off. If they're underperforming, this may make them feel a little better.

If you want to add a trade-off, you may want to rule that the mechanic and drone share an allotment for personal upgrades, ie. if the drone has a Mk1 upgrade, the mechanic can't get one and if the mechanic has a Mk2 upgrade, the drone can't get one, etc.

I agree. It's against the rules, but probably doesn't break anything so go for it.

Well both the Mechanic and his drone are about as effective in combat as my Mystic... We hit if we are lucky and to be fair, the little personality of PEW!PEW! is worth it. I think I will allow it as his own thing, limiting it to only one.
