Starfinder: Voyage of the Asimov -- looking for two players.

Recruitment

You are on a Generational Colony Ship headed for a distant star, the Isaac Asimov. The ship is equipped to handle such a long journey. It uses an FTL drive, but it's slow to get to it's destination.

Most things are powered by the Ether. Including it's electrical systems. Currently, the ship is riding or following a Birkland current. A line of plasma stretching far into space. The Asimov is also following a ship that releases Fold Gates into other star systems, allowing them to be explored by ship (Starship Operations Manual, page 10). That ship, the Sheffield is crewed by androids. The designers of the ship Allowed The atmospheric temperature on aboard the Asimov to be regulated. There are no seasons, only eternal Spring (late April, early May). The environment is also regulated that waste is recycled.

At least five (5) civilizations rose and fell on the Generation ship, allowing for a number of religious systems and mythologies to be created. Currently everyone is naked aboard ship, due to the regulated atmosphere. Earth (or Golarion) is a distant, mythical memory.

Most people are happy on the Asimov. But the current civilization aboard ship is in decline.

The Party
You, as a party member, is assigned to the Exploration Team of the Asimov. You are to visit the various planets the Asimov comes across. Seeing if their fit for colonization (so the civilization can continue). The ship's fold gate allows other ships of distant classes to explore these far new worlds. If a suitable world is discovered, the civilization prepares a colony to leave behind.

Creating Your Character
Races
Only the Starfinder Core Rulebook races are available.

Themes
You may choose themes from the Core Rulebook, the Pact Worlds, and the Character Operations Manual.

Classes
You may pick classes from the Core Rulebook and the Character Operations Manual.

Background
You are free to come up with a background you think fits the race-class-theme you pick for yourself. Remember, you're onboard a generation ship. So you are used to either a hologram atmosphere, or seeing stars your whole life. Also, be sure to give an origin story on how you made it to the Exploration Team.

Inspirations
The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov.
Foundation by Isaac Asimov.
Dune by Frank Herbert
Stargate: Universe
Star Wars
Star Trek

Since two of my players left the thread, I'm looking for replacements. Yes, life on board the Asimov is like a nudist colony, but I hope that won't deter you.

What sort of characters (by class, mainly) are still in the game? I'm thinking about a couple of ideas but I wouldn't want to step on toes.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A Witchwarper and an Envoy.

OK, here's first draft on background and stats. I'll tidy them up tomorrow.

background:
Playing with the rich when you haven't the cash to do so is a tricky thing, and Jydimu knows the tricks. Not outright theft - oh, maybe an eat and dash when truly necessary - but looking the part, acting the part, knowing art and gossip and fast vehicles, and judging people well enough to cadge a meal or a ride. He needs to do so to keep up the appearances, his departed parents left the estate to his despised host-sibling and nothing to him.

At least he did get a solid education, and his sister still calls occasionally. She has a respectable job and doesn't need impoverished relatives arriving at strange hours to crash on her couch though.

There was some work as an informant for a security organisation for a while but that dried up lately. A shame, keeping an eye on high society was a job which someone has to do and what did it matter that some Ysoki dancer got so upset? She was involved in the smuggling I'm sure of it, and if I'd had more time I could have proved it. Anyway, he did get a referral to this...Exploration Team. The room and board may not be up to my standards, but another eat and dash could be unhealthy.

Jydimu's pretty buff as an arthropod goes having fed well as a youngster and exercising well even now. Unfortunately mammals don't seem to see it. Nor the faintly embossed and tuned decorations which Shirren blindsense picks up easily. Peons.

Hello, I'm working on a soldier for the game. Probably mostly working with longarms, but keeping it fairly general.

What is the reason that this generation is on the decline?

Looks good. A sensate operative is something I didn't expect to encounter. I like it.

The civilization is at where the United States of America was at by 1963. On a decline, but can still do great and marvelous things.

Treasurefox here. This is Roddy Brooks, a NG human soldier with the spacefarer theme. Background is currently in point form, but I think there's enough tidbits to get a good grasp of who Roddy is and where he came from. Feel free to ask me any questions.

If selected, I'd like to know what deities and mythologies are available for play. Looking for something good aligned, possibly Lashuntan in origin.

I didn't specify which deities would be used, so figure on all of them to be worshipped. If a published deity doesn't fit what you have in mind, feel free to make one up.

And here we are. The profile has the tidied up background and stats, though not as tidy as Roddy Brooks. There's a sad lack of Shirren avatars so here's a repurposed formian.

Alright. Will the players of Jydimu and Roddy Brooks report to the Discussion tab of the Voyage of the Isaac Asimov game as soon as possible. So we can introduce your characters into the game.
