So does Dwarven Reinforcement work with shields ?

The ability let's you spend an hour reinforcing an object which a sheild is but the flavour text mentions a thick object and that kind of puts us into how long is a piece of string area where we ask how thick is thick ?

Reinforcing a shield is the only real use for this feat I can come up with. Anything else would be highly situational at best. So yeah, I'd totally allow it.

Conclusion: Probably doesn't work with shields.

Liberty's Edge

I cannot say I agree with Taja here, Dwarven Reinforcement almost certainly is meant to work with Shields from my perspective.

The whole thick/thin section of the feat has no real footing in the mechanics of the system since that's not really codified in any meaningful way. That said, like so many other things it seems to have been left ambigious on purpose so that it can come down to a GM call and I hardly think that adding 1 additional hardness is at all game breaking and if anything the Feat is still pretty "weak" compared to other Feats which it competes with at the same level.

At the end of the day it's ambigious and the only real answer you're going to get is "ask you GM" and that's working as intended I believe.
