Hero Points and Secret Checks

Advice

How do these interact? Would include everything from Recall Knowledge to Sneak.

I think you can't reroll a hidden check, because you can't see the result.

And not being able to see the result, you won't be able to decide whether to reroll it or not.

2 examples here:

1) Attack > Roll 7 > I decide to reroll the dice ( not knowing the outcome of my attack )

2) I sneak past the guards > Gm roll a secret check > I am not able to know my result, and because so I am not able to reroll it. I will simply know whether I failed the check or not ( same goes with recall knowkledge ).

Hard to be heroic if you don't know you're supposed to be heroic

Personally I'd let the player declare they were using a Hero Point beforehand to get the usual fortune effect of "roll twice, take the best," with both rolls secret of course. I feel that's well within the spirit of the hero point rules, but it does stray from the letter.

That's a nice one.

Secret checks

Link to the rules that cover this scenario for you.

That still leaves room for interpretation, but the way I see it that's different from rolling twice and taking the best result as many people rule it. Here's how I see it:

You say that you want to Recall Knowledge for example. You also say that you want to use a hero point. Since hero points never do 'roll twice and take the best result' for open checks that doesn't apply here either, but you also don't see what your first roll will be, so the only option you have is to say 'I want to reroll if I roll X or lower on the first secret check'. Then the GM will either reroll or not, depending on the result of your first secret check. If they reroll, you must use the result of the second secret check and you have spent your hero point. If they don't, you actually don't spend your hero point.
