Hello folks,
I have 28K to spend on some new toys for my bard and I was looking for some suggestions. My bard is level 15, and we are on a homebrew seafaring campaign with our own ship. I tend to focus on buffing my party, and we are going up against a ghost ship soon. Also, my character more or less refuses to kill potentially redeemable humanoids. (This does not mean he won't knock you out with non-lethal damage and hand you over to the authorities or baleful polymorph you into something harmless with wild song aria). I have several item creation feats: arms and armor, wondrous items, and rings. I have an assortment of nonmagical firearms which my character is proficient with. My primary weapon is a masterwork paddle foot pistol - but I don't use weapons often.
Str: 12 Dex: 18 Con: 14 Int: 12 Wis: 10 Cha: 26
AC: 28 Touch AC: 20 Flat-footed AC: 22
Fort: 12 Ref: 18 Will: 14
Armor: Mithral shirt, Masterwork buckler
Items I already have:
- Handy Haversack, Bag of Holding lvl 3, Rods of lesser extend, dispelling, and lesser merciful magic
- Dervish Sikke (head)
- Headband of Charisma +6 (headband)
- Amulet of Natural Armor + 3 (neck)
- Cloak of Resistance +4 (shoulders)
- Mnemonic Vestment (body)
- Endless Bandolier (chest)
- Belt of Dex/Con +2 (belt)
- Bracers of Glib Entertainer (wrist)
- Rings: Protection +5 / Spell Knowledge +4
- Cat Burlar's boots (feet) - I just found this somewhere
- Empty slots: eyes, hands, feet (not important to my character)
Ioun stones: Dusty Rose Prism, Eastern Star, Western Star, Cracked Magenta Prism, Cracked Rose Prism, Cracked Green Prism
What are some good items to get? Or to enchant? I was considering enchanting my paddlefoot pistol, but I don't use it often and I can usually only shoot it 4 times before I need to spend several rounds reloading. I was thinking of enchanting my armor, but I could just cast mage armor to get almost the same AC. Also, if you have any good ideas for scrolls to teach my ring, I'm always on the lookout for those.
Item suggestions (which could be scrolls) could fall into the categories of: useful against ghosts; generally useful; just plan fun, cool, or thematic

If you have a paddlefoot pistol but only use it rarely then a few magic bullets might be more efficient and useful than enchanting the gun. Mage shots, maybe a reporting cartridge or a scouting cartridge or two. Burrowing bullets might be out of character.
Scrolls are a problem because their save DCs are not competitive. As a 15th level bard you probably have just about all the buffs anyway (buffs being generally save-free). I suppose a scroll of wall of force provides a little save-free battlefield control which affects ghosts, but mind their ability to go above or under a barrier easily. If no one in the party can cast consecrate it might be worth getting a scroll of that.

Dot.
I still need ideas to help the bard in our party.
I can't help much but I posted THIS THREAD recently that might have some ideas for you (it might be a bit specific for your needs, but who knows).

Note for scrolls: By teaching the scroll to my ring, any arcane spell of any class up to level 3 or any bard spell up to level 4 can be cast through the ring of spell knowledge as if it was on my list of spells known without using up the scroll. So the scrolls are a bit more competitive than they first appear. Thanks for the ideas so far.

3rd or lower level spells at L15 are still a few points behind decent save DC. I mean, you can pick up command undead (sorc/wiz 2) as the ultimate anti-undead spell but if the target doesn't fail a DC 20 will save, you wasted your standard action. The first CR 15 undead I found just now (a nemhain) has a +20 will save bonus. If you get that spell use it on mooks only, not the ghost ship captain.
Tactical adaptation (magus 3) is a buff that might be useful to you and which you don't already have.

a horseshoe for luck bonus to saves. +1, +4 once a day (+2\+5 if you got the above mentioned faith's favored). to make it cost 3,400 gp.
also upgrade your mithral shirt into this (it should cost 250 gp less as you already have a masterwork chain shirt).
it's great especially if you never go into melee (and so only enemies with true sight and such will ever get to disbelieve).
for 3,600 crafting price (-250) it will count as +3 breastplate so +5 more ac then what you have but since it's an illusion still let you add your dex like a normal mithral shirt. and if they do notice the illusion it's still a +1 mithral chain shirt.
if gm say your not a member of said church, point him to the part about :
"..(it appears white when worn by anyone who doesn’t follow Razmir).."

He also has Mnemonic Vestments that allows him to cast a spell from a written source (scroll) as if it were on his list of spells known. When he does that it is using his full caster level and stats not that of the scroll. It may only be once a day, but this is perfect for highly situational spells.
Scrolls are actually a very good investment for this character.

..
Blind Man's Fold + Eversmoking Bottle + Slippers of Cloudwalking..
na, just get goz mask and saltspray ring (and the slippers if you want to) a lot cheaper

They are cheaper, but they are slightly less good, and so they are a good alternative to consider in lieu of the Blind Man's Fold and the Eversmoking Bottle.
The Slippers of Cloudwalking should work with either the SSR or the EB, but there is a bit of a problem in that the OP's feet are occupied. But there are rules for combining enchantments, and the OP has Craft Wondrous Item, so it's a possiblility. There is another problem, though. This is a seaborne campaign, and neither the Eversmoking Bottle nor the Obscuring Mist from the Saltspray Ring would be particularly effective on windy days.
The 'Slippers combined with the SSR or ESB would grant the OP something like Air Walk, but the Broom of Flying would be better, but more expensive.
