Are there more than a couple magic robes???

It seems there are only a few options when it comes to magical robes. I can't find a list of more than (4?). Maybe this is covered in the rune "economy" instead. Help a guy out...

Thanks to explorer's clothing, "magical robes" are now treated the same as magical armors rather than being specific and usual much less frequently found magic items of their own. Just etch some runes and go, rather than hope that maybe one day a magic robe shows up in the loot.

What exactly are you looking for? ie, what specific item(s) since slots aren't a thing anymore. You looking for AC? Saves? Spells? Abilities? Once we know that, it's easier to point you where to go.

I believe he's asking for a larger variety in the magic item category "robes". I believe he wasn't looking for anything specific, such as a bonus to AC. I believe he expected a full and varied listing of robes to equip his Wizard character, like in previous editions of the game.

And he's been advised Wizards no longer need to look for robes specifically since every character, even unarmored ones, can enjoy armor runes (unless they specify "light" "medium" or "heavy")

So the reason there aren't more magical robes is that the game works differently. The idea that robes = extra special defensive magic loot for spellcasters is just not supported that strongly any more.

indeed:

Quote:
Explorer’s clothing is sturdy enough that it can be reinforced to protect you, even though it isn’t a suit of armor. It comes in many forms, though the most common sorts look like clerical vestments, monk’s garments, or wizard’s robes, as members of all three classes are likely to avoid wearing armor. For more information on explorer’s clothing

Explorer's clothing with runes is Basically "Magical Robe" if you so wish it to be.

Maybe, maybe not. Robes often had nothing to do with protection in PF1 so he might be wondering why there aren't any Robes of Infinite Twine or Robes of Components.

If he's just looking for 'wizard armor', explorer's clothing or Bracers of Armor do the trick.

With items not having specific slots, you can also talk with your GM about changing the appearance. An unobtrusive monastic order may have Clandestine Robes instead of a Clandestine Cloak. The magic functions identically, same cost etc.

The patterns to create and enchant Magical Robes are likely to be some of the most closely guarded secrets of magic in the setting at large I should think.

Thank you all SO much!! I was simply thinking in terms of old rule sets where there was a large list of different magical robes. I see now that it is basically covered by runes. This is what I thought, but wanted some confirmation since it is sometimes very hard to pinpoint something in 2e...

Thanks again!
