My summoning wizard is reaching level 9 and i was thinking about my first metamagic feat. I stumbled across dazing metamagic and while looking for possible spells im curious: burst or radiance has a save (dazzled instead of blinded) but evil creatures get damage, regardless of their save. That would mean evil creatures will get dazed for 1 round, no mater what (aside from Spell resitance)?
So a successful reflex save avoids the blind *and* the daze? Hmm the Area of Burst of Radiance isn't great. Wouldn't you rather apply it to a fireball or Flaming Sphere?
No, even where there is no save dazing metamagic provides for a will save. In this case Burst of Radiance does have a save, even if it is not for the damage so you could find it was either a reflex save or a will save. Either is a possible interpretation.
Also it would daze for 2 rounds as Burst of Radiance is a level 2 spell.
Also Dazing Metamagic is probably the worst feat ever printed for the good of the game beyond perhaps Sacred Geometry. It can trivilaise 95% of the bestiary with pretty minimal commitment. I wouldnt recommend taking it if you actually want to have an interesting game. Watching your martials beat some training dummies to death while they are incapable of doing anything isnt very interesting for anyone.
Dazing probably should have been staggering. similar effect, protects against full attacks, but shows why things like giants and dragons have vital strike feats
