Pariapts

Rules Questions

could one use an enchanted pariapt on an enchanted neck slot item??

Periapts are neck slot items. Did you mean something else?

no, I meant periapts. someone sent me a sheet presenting they are 'customizing' a neck item with a periapt. I read periapts and see them say they are attached to necklaces so kind of see the logic but I've never seen that tried before. it seems like its probably against the rules but I'm not sure.

there are things like weapon crystals, so maybe periapts could be a thing?

I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight, faqs, or even a second opinion.

Silver Crusade

Is the periapt an actual magic item or just some trinket they’re wanting to customize their outfit with?

Yeah, usually a Periapt is a necklace that is adorned with a big jewel or a charm of some kind. But there are plenty of wondrous items that are Periapts, like Periapt of Health, or Periapt of Proof against Poison, etc. Is he making one of those as a custom magic item? Or just a non-magical Periapt for character backstory/flavor?

Periapt of Health and Periapt of Proof against Poison are the very items I am looking at.

Those are both neck slot items. The fluff text can say whatever, but only one item can be used in each slot.

If you're allowing custom magic items then combining two neck slot items may be OK. Usually you add 50% to the cost of the cheaper item when doing so.

If custom magic items are not assumed, then no.

Quote:
If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character’s body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection +2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5.
