That's completely unrelated. Distant Worlds sold bonkers despite no planetary AP to support it at all.

Sorry, katanas and kitsune just ain't that popular.

I am new to pathfinder with 2e, and would absolutely love an updated Tian Xia book. I was curious how popular the samurai and ninja classes were in 1e? And did the dragon empires book just not sell well when it came out? Thanks!

Unfortunately the Tian Xia books did not sell that well at the time from what we know.

I have been a fan of epic/mythic rules since the 3.0 Epic Level Handbook. I'd love to play Wrath of the Righteous in PF2. Could probably figure it out myself. But I'd prefer to just pay people who do this stuff for a living to figure it out for me.

The PF1 Technology guide was a half-sized rule book. Grabbing the equipment and vehicle chapters from Ultimate Combat, and the magical crafting/constructs from Ultimate Magic, you'd get Gunslingers/Drifters, Antiquarians/Occultists, and Thaumaturgists/Summoners (around the back by introducing a golem-eidolon option) and probably not break the full size.

Since that would involve Summoners AND Gunslingers in the same playtest, that's likely enough headache for one book. But some kind of Mage Smith class wouldn't be amiss.

Bringing this back up, because now this has moved to the top of my list on most sought after tomes.

With Secrets of Magic presumably covering how magic is integrated and used in setting and in campaigns, I want to see a more equipment focused book next.

Drifters and Antiquarians would still fit in, with Drifters utilizing the Fortune tag, reactions, and critical effects to make the most out of weapons of a selected group (not sure how to square that against fighters though), and Antiquarians delving into (non-alchemical) consumable/chargeable magic items and focus systems and pumping them to the max.

For a third class (I may as well assume the 5 classes they have on the horizon are the next 2 books), I'm not sure. I liked the idea I believe Humblegamer had regarding the shifting rune. I had a similar thought, where equipment traits might be manipulatable, but that would likely overlap with the other two class concepts.

Hmm. Occultist/Antiquarian would likely be a gish (and if they use the 4 slot method, their billion charged items are how they get around that), and the Drifter would be a pure martial. Since we're getting 2 gishes in a pure magic book, I suppose a full caster might find a home in an equipment book. What kind of caster would be equipment driven though? Anyone have thoughts?

I was very off on this guess, but nonetheless pleased with what we're getting.

(Mostly bumping this to see what happens with the disappeared forum threads).

The way Paizo likes to bundle different books with related themes across their adventure paths, setting, and rulebook lines (like Lost Omens Mwangi Expanse, Secrets of Magic, and Strength of Thousands AP all releasing in June and July), I think some good books to come right after/alongside of Guns & Gears would be:

- Lost Omens Impossible Lands - like the Lost Omens Mwangi Expanse and Lost Omens Absalom, but obviously about Nex, Jalmeray, Alkenstar, Mana Wastes, and Geb.
- Necronomicon/Book of the (Un)Dead - A themed bestiary book on undead, psychopomps, angels, devils, and other monsters that have a special relationship to death, entropy, and/or the afterlife or reincarnation/resurrection/whatever the form the soul's journey after death may look like in monster myths. (since they have stated that they will be doing themed monster books after Bestiary 3 instead of "Bestiary #" anymore)
- An AP involving the PCs in the conflict between Nex and Geb with Alkenstar being caught in the middle
- Either a 2nd edition version book of the Mythic Rules or...
- The "Book of Conquest" - for rules on mass warfare, troop movement, siege warfare and engines, siege monsters and ritual/spell effects that are on a level that can threaten large numbers of troops and armies(either due to size like Kaiju or due to the mass effect they can have like creating a cursed fog that can affect the entire flank of an army), combat engineering, battlefield environmental effects and damage (i.e. Mana Wastes), naval battle, gunboat diplomacy/sabre rattling, and the motivations behind why nations go to war, what can be gained and/or lost by going to war or deciding on peace, and maybe some classes and archetypes that deal with those topics such as a Diplomat/Envoy style class, a martial Runecaster/Enchanter class that can create, boost, debuff, and manipulate weapons and armor with runes and talismans, and a Vanguard class similar in role and function to those from Starfinder (Maybe even a Sawbones class for a non-magical healer like role the Biohacker fills in Starfinder). Perhaps something like a Oozetender archetype from Nex or an Undead Wrangler (i.e. Zombies/Skeletons) from Geb.
- "A Spirit's Guidebook" - this could be a good companion release with the book of the Dead as it would be mostly about bringing 1st edition occult class information up to 2nd edition, but also about the planes, especially in regards to astral and ethereal, life after death, religions/deities/philosophies and cults/organizations that deal with those topics. This book might even work for updating the Inquisitor and/or Shaman classes.

I just thought I would revise this thread since this is where I expressed my hope for a Book of the Dead to come along soon after Guns & Gears... and now it appears to be coming to pass. :)

Now if we could just get that book on the Impossible Lands. But, the fact that Book of the Dead will be written from Geb's perspective is giving me hope that we will see an Impossible Lands book not too long after Book of the Dead.

I also find myself hoping to see something like the "Teachings of Transcendence", the "Entreaties of 1001 Impossible Introspections", "Essays Into Insurmountable Labors", "The Scrolls of Sagacity", or something with an evocative and grandiose name like that as a book to cover things like spiritual matters in regards to the pursuit of enlightenment and how that impacts magic and society, non-deific faiths, monastic life, akashic matters, Mnemonic abilities, Dreamwalking, accessing and relating to other realities/planes and the elements, the Houses of Perfection, ancestries with strong ties to these things (like Samsarans, Wayangs, and Vanaras) and even updating 1E class concepts like the the Kineticist, Medium, Mesmerist, and Psychic - even if they are only adapted as archetypes or something else. Maybe even some others like the Shaman, Occultist, and/or Inquisitor, depending on how their flavor/concepts are going to be written for 2E. This book could also be more focused on religion as a whole and not just limited to the pursuit of spiritual, mental, and physical perfection, which might more easily make allowances for the Inquisitor, Shaman, and Occultist. After all, the Lost Omens line did a book on the Gods, but the Pathfinder line has not yet done so and that could address more of what Gods & Magic did not.
