Is there already a "guardian angel" monster?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

If so, what's it called?

Meaning what? There's a construct shaped like an angel which acts as a guardian. Any number of tiny outsiders could do an invisible protector job, with or without moral guidance. What sort of criteria did you want to use?

It also depends on the perspective of the one being protected. I could easily see a scenario where any number of evil creatures with natural invisibility could act as the "guardian angel" for a child or insane adult.

A cusory search for guardian angel turned up

Angelic Guardian

Guardian Spirit

either of which could work depending on what you're looking for.

Like the whole idea of an angel that watches over a good person.

Imagine you're talking to someone who doesn't share your culture exactly and who certainly doesn't share your religion. What idea exactly? Don't use as few words as possible.

Does it have to be celestial in nature?

Must it fit the appearance of the your typical Christian angel, depicted as beautiful humans with feathered wings?

Is it supposed to be invisible/unseen/out of sight?

What does it do to protect the subject? Does it kill threats? Does it move the person away from the threat? Does it warn the person ahead of time about the threats?

It could look like anything, but having it be invisible makes sense. I also think it (in addition to fighting to protect the person), would have something like a built-in ring of friend shield with the person, but maybe give it a maximum range of only a mile or so.

some1 with a juju spirit looking after him? or a kami that consider them it's ward (kami familiar?)

remember the fact you got an angel looking out for you doesn't have to mean a strong one.

how about any of the number of improved familiars that can turn invisible at will? and or shapeshift? (i had a caodaemon familiar. had a shapesift ability for lizard and snake and turn invisible at will, then again he was anything BUT an angel...)

i like the idea of an Aether elemental (can also be taken with improved familiar - small elemental).
it's constant invisible and the telekinetic powers would make it able to shove things (or enemies) out of the ward's way. so even when it fling the bully out the window he is still invisible.

Dark Archive

NPC - young human girl child with “Guardian Angel”: “Hi! My name is Cody and everyone likes me! ‘Cause my Aunt Abrogail tells them too! She’s my Guardian Angel!”
Cheliaxian Government Official: “Cody? What’s your Aunt Abrogail’s last name?”
Cody: “The Second! Yep, everyone calls her different things, but her name is Abrogail Thrune the Second!” (Big smile!)

You could use an Eidolon?

Or a Shaman's Spirit?

Or a Spiritualist's Phantom?

(They really didn't think those last two through did they?)

What's this for?

The main question is really what do you want it to do.

As far as I'm aware, when people talk about guardian angels in real life, they don't imagine a literal angel standing next to you 24/7 watching everything you do and intervening on a whim. I think? Because seriously, the whole idea makes no sense and it hugely creepy when you think too much about it. Is he holding your hand while you poop? Taking a peep when you are "executing your marital duties". People typically desire some level of privacy, and no being can always know when not to look unless they are essentially "looking" to begin with.

Rather, because I've never really heard the concept explained in detail (and I'm fairly sure it has little if any theological backing), it just seems like a reference to a non-descript blessing. Which, mechanically, would not be so much a creature rolling dice, but the character benefiting from a bonus such as "X times per day, the character can reroll a d20 or force a reroll of a d20". Which is basically an existing feat, "Divine Interference", which you could just give for free and strictly for the character's own well-being.

Otherwise, if you really want to go down the creepy route of a literal creature spying on you 24/7, you'll be wanting something that's ethereal and that can spend X/day abilities in a targeted manner, such as being able to (barely) move things around or grant various bonuses or penalties to specific rolls.
