Hunter's Edge for me and my Buddies

Advice

So with 2e I think I can finally make a character I wanted to create for a while, a non-magical gnome zoologist/cryptozooligist.

Ranger would be the build and the would be picking up both the Gnome Famililar feat and the Animal companion so they can have their own personal menagerie. the familiar is mostly for flavor and scouting. I was looking at what other feats to take when I came across the monster hunter and similar feats, such as share prey and triple threat and they all seem super fitting telling me allies how to deal with the monsters ahead of me.

My question is, which Hunter's edge would be most fitting to give out to the party and my companion buddy. I was thinking Precise, since my actions, look like they will typically be Strike, warden's boon an ally, control animal companion? And just give everyone a bunch of more dice. Or if flurry would edge out when it comes to giving it to my martial friends.

Depends on the party. If they tend to not use their actions for multiple attacks, precise. If you have a group of people who strike multiple times per round, Flurry.

I think that Precision would be more fun, because seeing the allies using more dice in the damage because of you feels more impactful and fulfilling than giving some better chance to hit when they attack more than once and I think it's more natural for your concept of pinpointing weakness because you studied it.

Flurry can also help if you go with Distracting shot.

instead of the 1 action you said for Strike, it could be one action for Hunted Shot that will give your enemy Flat footed for all of your allies.

Honestly, I think Outwit makes the most sense for your character, since it adds a nice boost to recall knowledge checks about your prey.

Outwit is thematic, and I was heavily considering it. But the recall knowledges would not do much for more allies. I suppose the defensive boost would be nice or if one of the allies was particularly skilled in intimidate.

That is really neat but would have to hit twice, which would mean either not attack with my animal companion. Could be an action I use once my animal companion always has at least one action against my target. Would have to rexamine the feats im looking to make it fit it though.

The Preciscion one does seem really fun tbh for that exact reason.

Hunted shot (level 1 feat) is 2 attacks for 1 action.

You listed "strike, command, identify" as your 3 actions.

you can easily do Hunted shot instead of Strike, and that's the 2 attacks to activate Distracting shot.

In general, if you only have 1 action for "attack" you should ALWAYS pick up Hunted shot, it's basically "1 free strike per round" for your planned action economy

A nice combo would be to get a Bear and use his support with the Flurry (And Hunted Shot) for some added DPR. Flurry helps with MAP meaning more chances to hit meaning more Bear attacks.

If you're sharing it, precise edge will be by far the best. Unless you have a very specialized party.

Zoologist/Cryptozoologist

Spoiler:

WIS > INT / CHA > DX > CON / ST
(E) Outwit
(1) Monster Hunter
(2) Wild Empathy
(4) Monster Warden
(6) Favored Enemy
(8) Warden's Boon
(10) Master Monster Hunter
(12) Double Prey
(14) Warden's Guidance
(16) Legendary Monster Hunter
(18) Manifold Edge
(20) Triple Threat

Probably not "optimal" but all the little +1's do add up over repetition, and fits your description. This guy won't shut up in combat.

That was most of y build but I also mixed in animal companion feats because wanted to have my personal buddy. but they might work better as two seperate characters.

as a Gnome I can spend two ancestry feats and ignore wild empathy. and even better it means I can communicate with all animals by like actually speaking to them.
