Quick Block + Shield of Reckoning

Rules Discussion

Do these class feats for the Champion (CRB p.113) play well together? It feels like thematically you should be able to use the free reaction from Quick Block to trigger Shield of Reckoning. RAW I am not sure it does.

Am I missing something? Otherwise, it doesn't seem like there's any reason to take Shield of Reckoning instead of Quick Block since it should allow you to do what Shield of Reckoning does already with it's extra reaction (via Shield Warden CRB p.112).

The advantage of the two together would be an effective third reaction to use AoO or Divine Grace etc if the condition for Shield of Reckoning was met, but it doesn't seem like it works.

Normally you can't use one trigger for two different reactions (or free actions with triggers). But Shield of Reckoning essentially lets you get two reactions on one trigger.

Quick Shield gives you a reaction for shield block. Shield of Reckoning is not a Shield Block (even though a Shield Block is part of Shield of Reckoning).

So you can't use Quick Shield's reaction to perform a Shield of Reckoning.

Shield Block used on an ally and the Champion's Reactions have the same Trigger "an ally is damaged". You can't take two reactions for the same trigger.

Would shield of reckoning use up 2 reactions if you had the extra reaction for Champions reaction? Or does it use up your reaction to do both but you would still have your other reactions for further use in the round?

You would only use one reaction for Shield of Reckoning, so you still have the other reaction to use shield block or Champion reaction depending of the feat you have.

you can use your Shield Block reaction

When you shield your ally against an attack, you call upon your power to protect your ally further. You use the Shield Block reaction to prevent damage to an ally and also use your champion’s reaction against the foe that attacked your ally.

But quick block says

Quote:
You can block with your shield instinctively. At the start of each of your turns, you gain an additional reaction that you can use only to perform a Shield Block

So, in order to use your shield of reckoning, you have to:

1) use your free base reaction.
2) be elegible, in that turn, for a Flourish move.

With quick block you can use a block action, maybe with shield warden. Since what changes is only the target.

With divine reflexes you would instead be able to use your champion reaction only.

Finally, you can't perform a Shield of reckoning reaction by using both quick block and divine reflexes.
