What class is the best at full-attacking with ranged trips / disarms?

Advice

Ranged Trip, Ranged Disarm, Ace Trip, and Ace Disarm are all "Targeting" feats. Targeting feats say that they count as Called Shots for anything that effects those. Improved/Greater Called shot let you full-attack with Called Shots.

With all those feats then you can full-attack with ranged trips/disarms that also do damage when they hit. What build would be able to pull that off/do so effectively?

Or is it really possible at all? From what I can tell the feats you want, as someone doing ranged attacks and maneuvers are:
Point-Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim, Combat Expertise, Ranged Trip, Ranged Disarm, Improved Called Shot, Greater Called Shot, Ace Trip, Ace Disarm, Improved Trip, Greater Trip, Improved Disarm, Greater Disarm.
Thats already 16 feats, assuming you didn't need anything else. 17 feats if you're an archer with Manyshot, a crossbowman with Rapid Reload, or a thrower with Quick Draw. Is this a Fighter-only strategy?

I mean...you can be done with it at level 15 as a human fighter....that basically means no one else can do it. I suppose a martial master fighter would be finished earlier, you could use the martial flexibility to "top off" the trip/disarm feats you need

Looking into it a bit more, you can get 8 of the feats you want as a Human with 2 levels of (the original) Lore Warden Fighter (Level 1 feat, Human Feat, 2 free Combat Feats from Fighter, and Combat Expertise from Lore Warden), and 2 levels of Zen Archer Monk (Level 3 Feat, 2 Monk Bonus Feats that Zen Archer changes to a list of all the archery feats you want, plus bonus of Perfect Strike and Weapon Focus).

Could also stick to just tripping or just disarming to save 4 feats (Improved/Greater maneuver, and Ranged/Ace maneuver).

A Human Lore Warden 2/Zen Archer 2 who only does tripping only really wants 5 more feats. Plus, if you don't care about Weapon Training (which is unlikely I'll admit, if you plan on sticking with Fighter), Lore Warden stacks with Martial Master to get that Martial Flexibility still.

Is it still best to stay as a Fighter then, or does that open up more options?

I was thinking that the Throwing Shield was a good Tripping weapon. If you had a Blinkback Belt, you would get it back every time you threw it.

If you took Snapshot Feats, you would Threaten within 10' and be able to use Greater Trip to score your Attack of Opportunity with your Shield again.

Maybe you could take like Ascetic/Snake Style Feats and the Martial Versatility Human Feat and apply Ascetic Style to Shuriken and to Throwing Shield. Take the False Opening Feat, and then score Attacks of Opportunity off your Throwing Shield Attacks, so you Draw Attacks of Opportunity off your throwing your Throwing Shield, then getting Attacks of Opportunity off of theirs, then more when you Trip them. You put the Bashing Enchantment of your Throwing Shield, of course.

Like I normally do, I'm talking about multiclassing. You need 4 levels in Fighter and/or Brawler to take Martial Versatility. I'm talking about combing Style Feats, you need at least 1 level in Monk, Master of Many Styles, more if you want to combine a 3rd Style. False Opening makes opponents Flatfooted, so we'd want to get Sneak Attack Damage somehow.

A lot of those come from independent feat lines; damage, disarm, trip. A brawler could use martial versatility to do this with a lot less permanent feats & gets a bonus to combat maneuvers.

Also, (half) human warpriests get about as many feats as a fighter.

Although...the thought of getting an eldritch guardian fighter with an improved familiar to put out twice as many disarm/trip attempts as any rival could is appealing. Maybe EG fighter 2 / brawler 10.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yknow what...Shield champion brawler
