How to get most SLA's on a fighter

Advice

Hi All
Kind of what the subject says. Looking at a thought experiment for the most spell like abilities on a fighter with out actual casting.
To start things off I believe the Kitsune with the various nine tails feats would be a nice start. Then a selection of the item mastery feats, plus a Deific obedience of some kind.
Wasn't there an option for Kitsune fighters to trade some of their bonus feats for the nine tails one.
Let me know your ideas on getting more.

Thanks

Drow with drow SlA feats > kitsune with tail feats

Not super familiar with the drow feats as most GMs I have played with don't care for them. What are the feats and what SLA's do they bring to the table?

A lot depends on whether you want to spread out those SLAs over your entire career or get them all at once. The kitsune Magical Tail feats are good for spreading out your acquisition of SLAs over your adventuring career. The Nine-Tailed Scion race trait is the key to letting you take Magical Tail in place of bonus combat feats if desired.

But you can get a ridiculous number of SLAs at 1st level (and even more later) as a half-elf with proper selection of alternate racial traits, other traits, and feats (starting with Elven Spirit, with a careful selection of elf alternate racial trait option). At later levels, take Arcane Talent and Additional Traits for more SLAs, then go into the Lantern Bearer prestige class. If you select the drow-related alternate racial traits, you could go with the Drow Nobility feat chain instead. Either way, a half-elf can easily outdo a kitsune in terms of SLAs.

Here

3 feats gets you 5 at will, generally more useful SLA and permanent detect magic. 5 feats gets the above plus 1X daily divine favor, dispel magic and suggestion

Kitsune tail takes 8 feats to max out

I also find the drow feats more useful for the challenges a fighter faces than the kitsune tail feats.

Foiling invisibility, levitation for mobility feather fall for drops

Interesting, options nice to see the are some choices in race. I was vaguely thinking one race might seem superior. Nice to see some other options.

David were there any particular choices for the half-elf that stood out as offering a nice selection of SLA's .

The trifler trait will give you 3 uses of prestidigitation/day. Rather utilitarian, but I feel it is a nice in character quality of life feature since 3 hrs of use is more than enough for most daily situations.

...also, many of the stated abilities in the spell seem like they would be useful for covering up murders. It is all about the small details.

Is there any reason that the magic trick feats wouldn't work with SLAs of their respective named spells? Lemeres' mention of prestidigitation brought it to mind.

Flickering Step gives Dimension Door a few times a day. The Planar Infusion line could get you another two SLAs. Does being able to access more SLAs through summons count? Because then First World is a pretty obvious Planar Infusion choice for the Summon Nature's Ally IV if that's the case.

Opportunist allows you to take the Rogue Talent Minor Magic. Not sure if it's worth losing all those feats for just one SLA, though.

Do you have to be single class Fighter? Are magic items allowed outside of the Item Mastery use? I assume no for directly providing SLAs, because then this is just a WBL experiment.

Trifler does require that the character be a Varisian human, which is no problem at all for a half-elf but would require a kitsune to take Human Guise as his initial feat.

The Trifler trait has already been mentioned. Since half-elves already qualify as human, it is an easy matter to make the human parent Varisian.

The Elven Spirit feat lets a half-elf take any elf alternate racial trait that replaces Elven Magic. Interesting choices for this are Envoy (four SLAs), Fey-Sighted (constant detect magic), and Lightbringer (light cantrip at will).

For the alternate racial traits, consider the following:

Mordant Envoy: Replaces Adaptability/Skill Focus, grants four SLAs (nice complement to the Envoy option of Elven Spirit).

Drow-Blooded (replaces low-light vision) and Drow Magic (replaces Adaptability/Skill Focus and Multitalented): Three drow SLAs from Drow Magic, plus qualifies for Half-Drow Paragon feat, which grants access to the Drow Nobility feat chain.

Disregarded: Replaces Keen Senses, grants four SLAs.

Fey Magic: Gains SLAs selected from druid spell list (3 0-level and 1 1st-level) usable only in a selected favored terrain. (This alternate racial trait is actually available to all 7 of the core races.)

Flexible Half-Breed: Replaces Multitalented, grants Alter Self 1/day.

For any race, do a search in aonprd.com for traits with "spell-like". You can build up a decent sized repertoire of SLAs with properly selected traits. By the standard rules, you can get up to 5 traits (base of two, plus one for accepting a drawback, plus two more if/when you take the Additional Traits feat).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Summary of what to do:
Take Barroom brawler feat
Take Abundant Tactics and Warrior Spirit advanced weapon training options
Use Barroom brawler to flex into Advanced Weapon Training (item mastery).

This allows you to flex into any item mastery feat and use your weapon to fulfill the item type requirement, even though it might not normally fit. Now you have access to a wide variety of SLAs.

It's been referred to as the "Iron Caster".

Drow also get the cavern sniper archetype which could help. No new SLAs, but more ways to use them, and eventually straight out more uses per day.

Beyond that... Feats. Obediences often grant SLAs. Item Mastery has been mentioned.
Blood Hexes are (su) but if you're just looking for paramagical things, maybe. Not all that great on a non hex-user though.
Conduit feats could qualify as well. Mostly (su) but a few sla - especially via the Infusion line.
And a smattering of others, like some of the fey court titles, the alignment feats, etc.

There's more than a few ways to go about it.
Not likely to get anything crazy powerful but a variety of utility might be better for a fighter anyway.
