Hi all,
I have been away from lurking since the end of the playtest and am now reacquainting myself with the release of 2e. I have read a topic here and maybe watched an interview in which it was said that there would be only multiclass archetypes in the CRB.
Having played a Cavalier and enjoyed doing so during the playtest, I was wondering if anyone knows whether that archetype will be released in the world guide or whether Paizo have abbandoned classes as archetypes altogether.

Discussed this briefly in the What Do We Know? thread, regarding this post from Mark
... we only have multiclass archetypes in the CRB, but using a homebrewed (fairly easy) conversion of cavalier ...
That a cavalier build with the PF2 Core would need to use a "homebrewed conversion" suggests to me that the archetype won't show up in the World Guide (otherwise it wouldn't be "homebrewed").

And I could see the reason for there inclusion in the playtest, other then being a class, both as another way to test the new animal companion/minion mechanic, and to see the results of allowing traditionally non-animal companion class to have access to a animal companion. {ie what would be the affect both mechanically and RP, if the foe saw a half bull man <barbarian rage, animal totem> riding on top of a horse into battle, ect :p >
You have caught two of the reasons I wanted to test cavalier and pushed to add it to the playtest. Another one I really wanted to know was "what do people think about the cavalier toolkit being a broadly available option for all characters rather than a class?"
(the answer is, people were in favor overwhelmingly for cavalier, and also in favor of this treatment for some other concepts that were classes in PF1 but not as overwhelmingly as for cavalier)

This was a great example/proof-of-concept of how some classes can be turned into generic archetypes and be pretty good. It opens up a ton of builds even if some of the PF1 abilities will be missed, though not nothing prevents them from being added later somehow.
Gonna miss this archetype being in the launch pack, though I can see how it may need looking at if Pets are being improved from the playtest embarrassment. (Riding a horse 2 actions per turn jeez!)

Although for almost everyone who could get the horse as a pet, riding a horse was 1 action that got you 2.

Yeah, I got to admit, while stats for the horse was a bit lacking, the whole one action for two was something I had initially overlooked, and was fairly powerful in it of itself. More so because you could get this benefit for a relatively low cost {1 class feat for the Cavalier dedication would get you this, not a bad trade.)
