Rules as written state the range for an Alchemist's bombs is 20 feet. That's pretty scary and way to close to danger for the bomb focused among us.
So how do we get a greater distance in our range?
(As it's probable that this has been covered in the guides, I thank everyone in advance for your patience with the question. I'm going cross-eyed reading everything trying to get a character going and don't have much time to left to finish him)

Its a range increment. So you can throw a bomb at something 20 or less away at no penalty, 25-40 is a -2, 45-60 is a -4, etc.
That being said: Explosive Missile, Far Shot, etc.
Distance Thrower can also be useful, especially combined with Far Shot (NB: you need the 13 str to qualify for the feat). Combined, you have no penalty up to 40' range, can hit an enemy at 60' range with a -1 (rather than a -4), and can hit an enemy at 100' range with a -3 (rather than -8).

Take the Alchemal Discovery Explosive Missile. It let you put your Alchemal Bombs into your Arrows and shoot them as a Standard Action. Now your Bombs have Longbow Ranges. While you are at it, be a Grenadier Alchemist. At level 2, you can put Alchemal Weapons like Alchemist Fire into your as a Move Action, then put a Bomb on it and Shoot it as a Move Action.

So as others have said, 20 feet is the range where you take no penalties, but you can throw further.
0 - 20, 0 penalty
25 - 40, -2 penalty
45 - 60, -4 penalty
65 - 80, -6 penalty
85 - 100, -8 penalty
As a thrown weapon you cannot throw it further than 5 range increments.
You can take the feat "Far Shot" to halve those penalties (there are other feats/etc that act like far shot).
"Distance Thrower" reduces that penalty by 2, meaning you could take Far Shot and Distance Thrower and you'd be able to throw upnto 60 feet without penalty.
Also the Half Elf favoured class bonus increases the range incremement by 1 (you hqve to take it 5 times to have any effect). This means a level 5 half-elf alchemist (who took the FCB) with far shot and distance thrower could throw up to 75 feet with no penalty, and could throw up to 125 feet with only a -2 penalty.

A bombchucker adds 10' range to any splash weapon, which includes bombs. Not bad for a cheap mundane item. Also once you hit about level five, most creatures' touch AC's are bad enough that the range increment penalties aren't much to worry about.
As an alchemist, you can also buff up your AC to being one of the best on the field, especially with a dex mutagen boosting offense and defense.

The 1st lvl extract, Bomber's Eye increases the range of any thrown weapon by 10 ft, as well as adding a +1 Insight bonus to the attack roll. The duration is only 1 rnd/lvl, however.

distance of bombs becomes 30 feet .
with farshot and distance thrower 90 feet without penalty ?
Add bombers eye 40 feet + FS and DT = 120 feet ?
on an other note .. adding monk arch type far strike
would you be able to throw the alchemist bomb and 1 other throw item using the Flurry of blows ?
