It was probably a figment familiar which gains eidolon evolutions. There is a 2 point evolution that grants a +2 ability increase to a stat of your choice. There is a 1 point evolution that allows the eidolon/familiar to pick a 1 or 2 point evolution and grant it to it's master. You can also take the evolved familiar feat to give your familiar a 1 point eidolon evolution that is separate from the archetype.
It's worth noting that since figment familiar is an archetype it can be mixed with any normal familiar of your choice, just not improved familiars since they can't get archetypes.

Do keep in mind that the 'Shared Evolution' can only be taken by an Eidolon who's master has the Twinned Summoner archetype. The description on PFSRD lacks this limitation, but the source book is very clear on the subject.
