I think McRagequit needs to see Doctor Banner about his anger issues...

So I just read some instructions that say:

"Use an object to open the battery door."

An. Object.

It's like they're saying no WAY do I have an appropriate tool and I'll just bang away with whatever my beefy Neanderthal hands fumble upon.

They're not wrong. But, ouch. They're not even making the effort to pretend I'm competent any more.

They're measuring caveman competence!

YOU GO GET THING. THING MAKE THING DIFFERENT THING. YOU DONE GOOD.

When all you have is an object, everything looks like a battery door.

stabs at hood of the car with a straw

Why won't this battery door open?!?!?

Hey all,

I may be taking a day or two off from the thread. My depression is really bottoming out right now and I don't really have much positive to contribute. Hopefully my head will get straightened out soon.

Quibble, you have the conn.

Alright, so we'll run the wire. I'm going to need a fake OTB place, a 200 yard cellular damper, and about 20 extras who won't break character...

Oh, wait. You said 'conn'. Not 'con'.

I'm out of my depth.

Feel better.

Got my wife at the ER. I think she blew her ACL.

Ouch. That sucks. Hope it mends fast.

Feel better soon Cal,

Ouch Van, hope she's ok?!? She get better soon too!

The ACL is a three letter acronym.

Yeah,

When you injure it, it stands for
"Always Curse Loudly!"

Last year when I tore my ACL *and* MCL, at one point I stepped out of my car. And when I step out of my car, it seems, I make a lovely twisting motion.

I'm pretty sure the very nice elderly Southern lady on her way into the grocery store had never heard cursing like that. At least if the way she burst into flames is any indication.

Howdy all! I'm back. Still not operating at full capacity, but trying to soldier on.

Van, how's your wife? Is she, or has she already had surgery for the torn ACL? I hear those are painful, painful things.

Anywayz, hope everyone is fine and dandy!

The insurance company has not approved the MRI yet to even confirm what's happened in her knee.

That's freaking insane! Insurance is a money grabbing racket. Healthcare should be right, not a privilege.

Yes.

And the worst part is the MRI will tell us exactly what needs to happen, and it's the *only* thing that's going to tell us what needs to happen. There's absolutely no reason to delay this.

If it's a strain/sprain/severe twist/etc, it's just ice, Tylenol, elevation, and compression. No sweat. If it's one of the xCLs, those have to be surgically repaired. They don't heal on their own if they've been torn/ruptured/otherwise mangled.

No, they don't. I'm actually angry about this and I'm not involved in any form or fashion. I hope something positive happens soon for you guys.

That sucks. Anything I can do from here?

Now that I have a new phone (a dump truck ran over my last one) I can stream on my phone.

I figure it's only a matter of time before I get lost while watching Lost in Space.

If you happen to work for my insurance company, get an MRI authorized. Otherwise, while I appreciate the sentiment, probably not. Unless you happen to possess a highly specialized set of skills and can track down someone at my insurance company...

Alright, after a delicious lunch at Pita Jungle, we have concluded a whirlwind tour of some houses. We missed the open house at first, but I had walked it yesterday and FaceTime’d Cyz in on the viewing. It’s lovely but all four bedrooms upstairs are jammed way too close, so we scratched it off the list anyway.

The next was really nice with wood or wood laminate floors throughout both floors. It would have worked perfectly for me, but Cyz had some complaints with the layout and options. Great location, so it was still a fallback option. The third was the one we were really interested in. Single story with all tile floor, great pool, lovely positioning ten minutes from my work. But there are a LOT of people going through there and we expect the bidding to be extensive given the downtown location.

A few more viewing had problems here and there, obvious water damage under the carpet, being far out of town with bad cell coverage, even if they had a lot of room space. Then we found this house. It checks all the blocks for Cyz, with the only renovations needed are redoing the floor to match throughout and replacing the soaking tub with a stand-alone option. Our realtor is going to investigate and see about making an offer. I’m really hoping this is one that we can move into next month.

That is NICE!

You have so many great creations here. I'm just waiting for opportunities to use them in my games.

Seconded. I know a few I fully plan on borrowing when I run a future fey plot in NWN (a heavily adaptated mashup of Kingmaker and Curse of the Crimson Throne replacing the villains with Runelord Sorshen).

Hello, everyone!

Hi John!

I know that I've been missed, but I've been watching a lot of educational videos on Youtube.

Ooo! What on? There’s some great stuff out there. I’m a big Numberphile fan.

PBS Spacetime and PBS Infinity are good channels to start with. The History Buffs channel is also good. There, they discuss the historical accuracy of historical movies. and the Biographics channel discuss the lives of historic figures.

Happy Monday!

I can honestly say, after spending 3-4 days with just me and three dogs, I'm happy that my mom and my brother plus my OTHER brother will be here for a good bit. Well I should say the youngest will be here to see the middle one before he and the wife go on vacation. But the middle one will be here until July 2nd...so there's that.

Mostly I'm glad I told my neighbor whose grand-daughter's Siberian Husky I'm walking "I need to sleep in at least three days a week. So does 2 pm work? Other than Thursdays?" (My neighbor volunteers at one of the local hospitals on Thursday afternoons...)

UGH,
actually decided to be a little productive yesterday, and cleaned up a mere section of my garage, primarily my work bench. (I couldn't find it under all the crud that had accumulated on top of it.)
:)

What do I get as a reward? I think my 'new, shiny gamey-PC' decided to crash the programs for the Champions online /Star Trek online MMO's I like to play. It crashed in the middle of playing, (actually crashed my practically brand-new PC) and now won't update or open the ARC/CRYPTIC games. ALthough it seems to be OK doing anything else.
:(

AND I woke up choking on mucus. I think the dust I swallowed while cleaning was really a sentient alien life form, and is now trying to take over my body. Hopefully SHIELD will help me find a cure before it mutates me into a bizarre crystalline entity.
;P

So,... How's everyone ELSE doing on a Tuesday?? ;)

(Sigh,... is it really only TUESDAY?!?). >_<

I spent yesterday dealing with water coming into our office suite from two floors above us. I'm spending today slapping people for complaining that I didn't take care of their issue yesterday.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Slapping people is the best. The. Best.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Slapping is good. On many levels.

When they REALLY deserve it, and/or are just not worth my direct expenditure of energy, I just stick out my arm, start swinging my hand back and forth, and tell them, "Walk into this."

;P
