Ohhh, Rags.

As they say, 'When you die you will go to heaven, as you've served your time in hell'.

You have NO idea!

;P

As they say "When you have paid your dues!"

Dude. I've paid my dues. I've OVERpaid my dues.
They owe me a LOT in change.
;)

After 12 years of this job (which has its high and low points) I am SO ready to retire from the State job and go get a nice, easy 8a-5p desk job! :)

This job is like dog-years-job.
Every year HERE is like SEVEN at a 'real' job!
;P

Well for me I plan on sleeping in as much as I can on Monday since I've not had much sleep this past week...and now with my neighbor not coming back until probably May 30th (but more likely May 31st), I'm going to need it. That plus my brother is dropping off his puppy again while he hangs out up in Central PA with his graduate friends from Iowa State. Then of course he's back to a conference in Washington, DC for something...by which time I'll be taking care of my OTHER neighbor's dog...who I do adore honestly. (Del reminds me of my first dog...coloration wise.) So...yeah.

Also found out our group found the secret passage and are now going to be fighting the Graveknight Frost Giant chieftain and her allies...so...yeah..

OK. 11.5 hours of sleep since getting up Wednesday around 9 AM. Ok, ZZZQuil, let's go for a ride.

One of these days I should probably read Shakespeare.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I thought I "should" read Shakespeare myself, a long time ago. I learned read it if you WANT to, rather than thinking you should. I ended up putting the book back on the shelf and now it's packed away somewhere. I never looked back.

I'm just saying, if I'm gonna mock the guy I should at least have some understanding of the material, besides what I've learned from comedy.

In fairness, as a child for my birthday my parents would take me to American Player's Theater by Dodgeville.

We did Shakespeare at school; I did also read all the plays at some point in recent memory, mainly because they contain swordfights and Bottoms.

And really, is there any more to life than that?

Well... maybe one more thing... two if you count snacks.

Also: I f&~&ing love Shakespeare.

So my son, home from being on the road with his band, brings me a tiny, very recently hatched baby bird. It was lying in the middle of an asphalt parking lot in the sun with no place near that could have held a nest. Having grown up in a really rural area on a farm I rehabbed a lot of little birds, but none this "new". We've had him since Saturday and so far so good. I will probably to contact a professional rehabber this week.

I like how my son stayed true to his younger self by wanting a pet or bringing home an animal (for me) to care for. Sigh...I'm a sap.

I hate allergies and colds. It always makes me sick. :p

Also, I love Shakespeare too.

Thirdly, I'm happy to say by the end of Tuesday, I will be getting more sleep because of the fact my neighbor told me her grand-daughter is expected back by Wednesday and thusly, I'm off the hook for that.

So there's that.

Finally, I've decided that once we finish running Giantslayer AND LR5 for 2019-2020, I'll toss out my hat for the GM job.

Which version of L5R are you running?

I'm pretty sure it's 4th Ed, since no one of us have 5th.

I think that (4th) is the one I have too. Haven't really looked too closely at 5th yet.

5th edition is easily recognizable by fancy dice.

I might write a review of 5th edition on my blog one day...

The little bird, after seeming to be thriving, passed away sometime this morning between the last time I fed it and when I got up 5 hours later. It was warm and tucked in the little bandana next my son had made for it with a heating pad on low underneath, so it wasn't too cold or hot. My son, who has been going through some things recently, didn't handle it very well this morning. He's better now, but I was pretty concerned about him, as any parent would be no matter the age of their child.

=(

:(

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing something living like that that you care for...is tough at any age, Cal.

Also my cold still sucks but at least now I have time to rest up tomorrow and Thursday.

And I wouldn't know about 5th edition L5R. I barely remember 3rd. :p

:(

GRRRR....I thought the insomnia period was over. Last night and the night before I got a decent amount of sleep. But it looks like this is going to be another all-nighter. Add the maddening bursts of tingling neuropathy and it's a howl!

And my night was unimpressive too - I though I got used to the current placement of mattress and the pillows combination, but I got (very mild) backache and headache again (though the later can be result of weather, it's raining).

<.<

What is suitable synonym for again to avoid needless repetition?

Meh, I'll check later, I need to finish some thing before going for a session...

WHY do they call it a 'Dance Show'?
When most of the kids are so little that they cannot, actually, dance?
;P

They line up on the stage, and look adorable, for 1-2 minutes.
Well, the ones who are not crying because they have stage fright or want their moms.

>_<

THIS is coming from a guy whose wife was a dancer until college, and whose daughter took dance for 14+ years. Just sayin'.
;P

I cannot wait for June to end,....

Wooo! My weeknight group just finished Emerald Spire. So I'm getting back into the GM seat to run Strange Aeons. Lovecraftian amnesia horror! Woooooo!

I strongly advise you to pop over to FAWTL just long enough to chat with NobodysHome about his ongoing SA game. Or send him a PM. Might help you be prepared for some of the weirder [in the literary sense, not the cosmic horror you came for ;) ] things that happened in the writing and arrangement of the AP. May spare you and your players a bit of OOC headaches.

I second that suggestion. Also check out his SA campaign journal. More of it there.

Things are looking pretty grim for parts of my home state at the moment. Massive amounts of rain to the west of us, on top of already saturated land here, is causing the Arkansas River to overflow its banks. Already homes are being swamped with muddy water and smaller streams and creeks are backing up and even flowing backward as the water rises. We have more rain in the forecast. It's on track to be the largest flood since 1927, which devastated much of the area.

Hope you're safe, Cal!

Thanks! I'm in no danger from the flooding, but right now there is a tornado watch until 8 PM. Not as severe as a warning, but enough to make a person keep an eye on the weather reports.

I'm not at my house, but in a nearby town, dog sitting. I just found out that there are trees down all around my neighborhood and the power is out. I can't reach my son's roommate to see if there's any damage to the house and I can't drive to check because they have the streets blocked off by utility crews trying to remove fallen trees.

I just got hold of my neighbor. She said there's no damage to my place, thank goodness.

Whew! Krikey, stay safe!

Wow Cal,
Sounds like back home in Oklahoma!
(You know, Tulsa= 'Tornado Alley') :)

That reminds me, Last I heard Oklahoma was getting quite a bit of nonsense too.

Time to check on the family. Again. :)

What Quibble said, Stay Safe!

I'm doin' my best!

Hi. everyone. Well, yesterday was interesting. It rained in Pittsburgh all day long. So, I spent my day off being cooped up inside. Yay?

Wellll,...

It beats being locked OUTSIDE in the rain. All day long.
Just IMHO of course.
:)

How did you manage that?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Cancer f$!*ing sucks.

It does. I just found out a friend of mine has lymphoma.

My grandmother's in the hospital with a brain tumor. Doctors are stimating three or four months.

OH no. I am so sorry. Are there any treatments that can be tried at all?

Given the distance (we're in TN, she's in TX) we're a bit behind on the specifics. We're expecting to get more news soon, but don't have any real schedule yet.

It's rained off and on here in Morgantown. Plus side, I think my cold is about run its course.

Also I will get to game this coming Sunday AND also it looks like Sunday June, 16th (which I didn't think I would be doing) thanks to one of my client's daughters wanting to take my favorite dog on a trip.

Down side/bad thing is said dog has been diagnosed with epilepsy. It's not the super serious kind...but it might grow to be. Which sucks. I REALLY like this dog.

For my own dogs, my brother is off having a weekend with friends at our farmhouse which is originally the Seitz family (my dad's family) hobby farm. Which honestly I had to laugh (not about this but what was said next) that both he and my sister-in-law think WE (my mom and me) should turn it into an Air B&B...which is fine...IF we had like 300,000 dollars to spare to fix it up. (It's from the 1850s folks...even if the siding is only from the 1960s...)

Mostly I'm sitting here with my dog, Galway, who while is doing better about interacting with my brother's dog Conway (I found out it's just a mispelling on his tag...) but still can't just sit still while he and Rory be puppy-ing it up. So down stairs with me he goes!
