Based on how my regulars eye-twitch and trauma-scream at the mere mention of things like "tooth fairies," "yellow fog," or the shout 'Teke-li-li!', I'd guess therapy must not be for everyone.

Not to start a whole "Grognard rant" thing, but... I've noticed the following trend at the table.

GEN-X GAMER: *tells real anecdote from their childhood*
MILLENNIAL GAMER: *blanches* "God, can't we just get back to fighting eldritch horrors in-game? Your stories freak me out!"

Damn, another winner! You just keep on amazing me.

Do you take requests? I have a thing I'd like to see written up but I'm no damned good at this.

"Ms. Scint, what's the maximum number of slides we can have?"
"It's a 3-5 minute presentation."
"But, like, how many?"
without looking up "99."
"We have 2000; is that okay?"
"Better talk fast."

At 24fps, that’s only 1:38 movie. They need MORE slides, dammit!

I don't know how they get in here and I don't know why they do it, but every time I fall asleep a gang of ruffians bludgeons my body with bars of soap inside tube socks. It's the only plausible explanation.

"We're going to look at a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet now. Here's your worksheet - you'll need to compare and contrast the characters who fill the same role as well as the relevant scenes. Now, this reinvisioning sets it in 1950s New York. Instead of noble houses, we have rival gangs."
class perks up

Oh, but this makes my mummified little heart all a-flutter. Way back in the AD&D1e days our characters worshiped the Egyptian Pantheon and that sparked a love of all things ancient Egyptian that persists to this day.

Neat.

On a related note, I've been slowly working on a D&D theory of personhood based on the Egyptian concept of the body/soul, including its various parts. Undead are various parts of the whole. For instance all undead are missing the ka, while unintelligent undead are missing the ib and the ba. Zombies would be mere khet, and they need their sekhem to have any sort of powers beyond raw bodily strength.

The exact point or use of this exercise is beyond me, other than making things needlessly complicated.

Needlessly?

Or awesomely!

It's a fine line.

Tonight is our group's third session of Pathfinder 2.0. Still meh. One of the guys who moved away asked me how it was going. I replied: "It's everything I expected it to be."

*shrug*

I dunno. We'll see. Maybe it'll get interesting. Maybe I'll find something else to do with my Monday evenings. I hear curling's fun. I own a broom. Though we don't get much ice round here...

There might be elements of that in 'Ultraviolet Grasslands and the Black City'

Is there a link or is it somehow tied in to your Spotify Playlist?

It's an RPG setting (might be a standalone game, but I think it uses 'Into The Odd') - here 'tis

Nothing to do with my Spotify playlist, but if you want that, maybe we can do a swap?

If that were a d20 based system I house-ruled a simple chase/race mechanic. Rather than use the official rules, which seemed cumbersome and slow to resolve, I just divide a character or creature's move by 5 and then use the result as a modifier to a d20 roll. Then it's just opposed rolls between those involved in the chase or race. It works the same for standard move speeds all the way up to running or sprinting.

I've got the playlist already and my whole account is set to public so I'll link it here. Feel free to peruse away (This goes for anyone who wants to see it).

WOOOOOOHAAAAAAAA!!!! I'm going to see one of my favorite bands for the first time ever tonight! W.A.S.P.!! They had to cancel last year but they made good on their promise to reschedule and they and Armored Saint are bringing the thunder tonight! I will be there in the handicapped seating area banging my head, but not enough to hurt later. I'm old and have learned a thing or two finally.

I'm very excited.

I may be influencing slang around here.

Me: I'll give you 10 minutes to finalize your notes, and then we'll start the discussion.
Student: Ok, we need to cook.
5 minutes pass as they proceed to talk about basketball instead of working
Me: You're running out of time to cook. Gonna have to microwave.
Student: ...that is lit.
Me: ...were...people not already saying that?
