Toying with the idea of running something Shoanti-based, and looking for more info about them. I have the basics from waaaay back in Curse of the Crimson Throne -- barbarians, Storval Plains, Cinderlands, yadda yadda. And I know they've popped up in splatbooks. But is there anything that goes into them in more detail? I think there was one PF Tales novel that was set in part among them?
Online sources are also good, if anyone has links.
cheers,
Doug M.

Apparently there's a good article on their shamans in Disciples Doctrine.
I think Lord of Runes is the tale you're thinking of. There's also this JJ post.

I'm a big fan of the map on the inside front cover of Varisia: Birthplace of Legends. It shows all the tribal territories and provides some quick references for the various clans that are handy to have so accessible. Pulling that out and reviewing it helped shape the upcoming Debt to the Quah scenario.

Reading that whole "A History of Ashes" AP volume (if you don't intent on playing that adventure sometime) is a really good way to get a feel for the Shoanti as it describes an actual tribe, it's history and how the PCs interact with them.
So if the you want to step into the Shoanti world read the adventure! Unlike most adventures it's heavily focused exploring a culture which is great if you're looking for inspiration on building a character from that culture.

While not about Shoanti as a whole, the iconic bloodrager Crowe's Meet the Iconics backstory is a bit of Shoanti fiction.

Varisia, Birthplace of Legends has very detailed information on all seven Shoanti Quahs. It tells you what regions of Varisia each Quah is found, what sort of tattoos define each Quah, what totems each Quah uses, etc.
It even details Shoanti sayings such as "Every stone, a totem." Meaning all land is holy, and any natural object could be a hidden source of power. It's the most detailed source of Shoanti lore I can think of.
