Suggestion needs to give more clarification what a resonable suggestion is

It's really unclear what you can do with the spell.

Is it reasonable to ask:
A bandit to join the winning side and fight with you
Someone to tell you/give you something instead of dying
A Demon to betray its allies
Someone to run away
Guards to look the other way and not report anything

There's really not a list that can be together by people on the internet.

It's going to depend on your GM and an individual characters motivations and desires.

Asking a honorable guard who takes their job seriously to look the other way probably isn't reasonable.

Asking the guard who's just in it for a paycheck will probably happily do so.

Asking a demon to betray allies might work, as demons aren't known to really care too much for each other. At the same time, that doesn't mean they wont continue to fight you first and betray their allies after you're dead.

So unfortunately the spell doesn't have really solid answer for what can be done with it. And, I would also like to add that wording can be very important. You can accomplish the same thing with different words.

If you goal is to get past a guard without them alerting others you could say:
Guard, I'm a nurse with the local chapter of clerics and you wife has fallen ill, you should go see her.
Or you could try:
Leave your post

One of these creates a much more reasonable premise why someone should leave, but probably does also require a bluff check to accomplish.

Yeah it's very subjective, and that really affects the power of the spell. I was wondering what they intended the power level to be. I feel like I remember seeing somewhere that something like "help us defeat them" was considered a reasonable request no matter the target by the designers. But most people don't seem to see it that way, they feel the targets personality matters too, not just the wording.

That's why clarification on that would really help.

I don't recall the designers making a statement like that, but I also don't follow them around religiously so I could miss things.

As far as I know, there isn't really good guidance from the developers on how powerful the spell is. But it is good to keep in mind that it's a second or third level spell depending on the spell list. It's at the same level as fireball for wizards.

I would not recommend ruling the spell by the relative power of fireball. Feet to Fins is also 3rd level Arcane l. I'd say try to seek balance in all GM discretion but I know I'm alone on some levels of that opinion.

I would say fireball is a good example of a 3rd level spell, power wise. It's very middle of the road. It's not the best 3rd level spell, but few things are as good as Haste.
