So when you move into an enemies square you provoke an AoO, that's fairly obvious. However, does the rider, who is not using their actions to move also provoke? Or does it count as forced movement and therefore not provoke?
Just something that I came across when having stirges ridden by sprites attack the party.

during mounted combat BOTH parties would provoke an AoO

I don't think you will find an official answer as there are a lot of unanswered question around mounted combat. And there isn't much consideration for creatures outside of small and medium.
My suggestion would be that the mount and rider draw a single AoO that can be applied against either the mount or the rider. They move as one, and no single action is supposed to draw more than one attack of opportunity.

I'm more in favor of both mount and rider provoke an AoO. Since most characters only have 1 AoO they should be given a choice. In the rare case that someone has combat reflexes they should be able to strike both. Especially since mount and rider should share the same turn and be taking their actions simultaneously.
