New update gave us multiclass rules for paladin. The first feat says you are bound by being LG and by your deity's anathema. It also is the only way to get instant heavy armor proficiency. And the only things you lose for violating the code is the benefits of feats you don't have to take. So, for example, a CE monk could take this while violating the paladin codes all the way, and still get a fun weapon and some good armor proficiencies. And now can take a feat for divine grace (about as good as any other monk reaction IMO) and another for armor expert.
Is this supposed to open up 'paladins' of every alignment?

Frankly, I think the Paladin MCA should probably uncouple the Weapon Training from itself altogether and and replace it with something you know, actually affected by their Alignment. Either that or simply force the PC to "Retrain" that Class Feat the next time they get downtime should they break the anathema.

The bigger problem is that we have a crucnh/fluff disconnect. Multiclassing paladin doesn't actually give you any paladin-ish abilities, it just gives you proficiency with equipment types. People who want to be a paladin aren't really getting paladin abilities, while people with no interest of paladinhood are being tempted in by non-paladin-related benefits.
Of course, at a more critical level, I think Paizo needs to be taking a good hard look at why so many players feel that their characters needs additional proficiency to be successful.

It is very weird because heavy armor is actually very bad.
You want, and can easily get, dex in this system. Once you hit dex 16 you can match the AC of maxed heavy armor in medium armor without any of the drawbacks. Even heavy armor users are going dex 14 because half-plate with 14 dex is mechanically better than full plate with 12 dex.

One possible 'fix' to the issue that I put in another paladin thread is to first change fighter and paladin dedications to give the same weapon and armor proficiency, and change paladin to getting 1/day lay on hands as an innate spell (which is only kept by maintaining the paladin code, alignment, and avoiding anathema) so that multiclassing paladin immediately comes with a reason to follow the code.
