problematic language in the playtest rules

General Discussion

This is a throwaway account because I don't want to face attacks on my main account because of my feelings.

I was sickened by the "Optional: Voluntary Flaws" language in the playtest rules.

Ableist language like that does not fit into the inclusive and safe atmosphere that all Pathfinder games should have. Those of us with disabilities didn't "choose" them for "fun roleplaying opportunities". Trivializing the struggles faced by those without able-bodied privilege isn't cool, and this whole sidebar should be deleted from the rules.

It's bad enough that the ability score generation process assumes that everybody is at least average and face no ability problems except for ancestry penalties that slightly disadvantage one aspect of the character. Rolling ability scores better reflects the way that some people are born with challenges we have to overcome, especially minorities and People of Color who face systematic lack of access to proper nutrition, medical care, and education.

I don't think this was an intentional slight but it needs to be addressed, to keep Pathfinder as a welcoming environment for all players. Thanks!
