2) What the heck is visual kei.?
Think elaborately costumed goth anime character and you get pretty close. Here's an example. Gosh I remember this being soooo cooool as a kid.

Are the fusion seals supposed to turn on immediately
if yes can they be turned on and off normally
and 3 if no is that supposed to create a big problem fighting the robots who would be imune to that damage?
Fusion seals don't become active until 24 hours after they have been applied, so yeah for the purpose of this scenario those are pretty useless.
Seems like an error that slipped through, though to be honest, I might not have noticed if I had not run and played a lot of Starfinder.
-
I noticed something in the final encounter, the boss has a holographic longarm and a melee weapon. it is large, but normally could only wield one of them at a time, unless you are supposed to wield the longarm in a single hand.
That said, I am not entirely sure what happens to those weapons when the enemy shifts form, it might just be expected that the enemy can recreate them as a move action or something like that.
--
I am really looking forward to offering this one, though to be honest I had to do a bit of research on some items, and might have to photoshop some band pictures. It really is a shame that we only got one. Maybe the author will stretch her painting skills again like this did for the scenario that started this band craze.
|
There's also a Subdual damage effect over the entire place, so the seals seem a little reduntant.
Which ... doesn't seem to make the final combat much safer. Killing the entire party or knocking out the entire party takes just about the same effort doesn't it?
I might have missed this (and I still not to do a proper reading of the scenario) but that field only seems to cover the auditorium (I assume that is just the area the fans will inhabit during the concert).
And the development of the final fight talks about what happens if the PCs die.. of course getting knocked out ... is really not what you want either.Really looking forward to run this one ^^

Security forces?
No problem
Vesk mash pit? Hey get her number
Security robots? Meh
Skitter mander swarm....
"BY THE HOLY HELLS RUUUUUUUUUUUN"
I already experienced an encounter with a higher CR swarm in SF.. it made the operative extremely unhappy^^
Fluffy swarms will likely be much more dangerous...

I got to talk with the author about this at Paizocon. And check out her paper minis. Still unpacking notes, as I don't get to run it till the 19th, but this is the most amazing scenario ever.
Apparently one of the other GM's recorded a class of children chanting 'helping' for the skittermander swarm.

The auditorium being non lethal but the thing in the center of the auditorium not having that ability would seem really weird unless the center was a temple to gorum or something, not shelyn.

Maybe they want to be able to offer authentic chelish operas, those tend to be bloody from what I can recall.

That was one of the local Seattle GMs, who teaches a class of young children. His major regret after getting to the con was forgetting to get a recording of "It's not my fault!"

Do you get to keep the 3 items you traded the limeted-edition album for? It kinda reads that way under the Heart Friend Forever (ally boon). And those itmes dont appear at the bottom for purchase.
Yes, Thursty, can we? Many people are asking this question. They want their Strawberry machine Cake Merch! ;)

1. What is the DC of Hira Lanzio’s “Not in the face” ability?
If I worked it backwards correctly he’s using the expert array. Which means the DC at CR1 is 12 and the DC at CR3 is 14. Correct?
This is another of those things that needs to be in the stat blocks. (DC XX) is only 7 characters. Vs. every GM having to flip through multiple Alien Archive pages.
2. The SMoV does not have a size or reach entry in its stat block. It’s large, so that makes the space 10’. I assume this is a large (tall) creature so that would make the reach 10’ as well but it isn’t listed.
3. The CR7 SMoV has a “holographic streetsweeper” (presumably equivalent to a thunderstrike sweetsweeper). It has a boost entry but no batteries. Does this mean it can boost the weapon continually? And has no ammo limit?
4. The SMoV’s holographic plasma sword doesn’t match up with any published weapon so far. No problem, it’s an NPC item, but is it supposed to be Fire damage only or E&F?

I had a LOT of fun running this at PaizoCon UK. There is one thing though I want to draw your attention to, because it almost went wrong for me, and at another table it did go wrong.
There are two paths through the station with encounters, and at first it seems that in traveling through either of them, the goal is to find out where Hira is. So once you do that, you'd no longer go the other way and miss out on those encounters. A shame, because they're cool.
However, that's wrong. You will travel in both directions; Hira's room is at the far end of one path, and the reactor at the far end of the other. So you will do all encounters.

Hey, I'm running this a whole bunch at Gencon, and I just want to clarify, if the team sells their Star Sugar Heartlove disk, they get the heart friends forever boon AND the money from selling the original boon replacing the amount that it would have originally sold for which I should write in as additional funds earned in the scenario, right?
|
|
Are you sure? That doesn't seem correct. If you choose the option to sell the album using the boon, you get 200 Credits added to your chronicle sheets, and it says in the adventure that Burgundy Bear trades it for some dolls worth 800 credits to each PC who does so(3,000 credits in Subtier 5–6). As far as I can tell, wouldn't this be selling the boon for a increased price for holding onto it?
The Heartfriend forever boon just let's you slot BurgundyBear as an Ally and doesn't seem to be related to how many credits are earned as part of the mission.
|
|
But what I'm saying is that your pawning it TO BurgundyBear for a listed cred value that is not part of the adventure, and can only be gotten if you have the boon (And thus, shouldn't be part of the adventure creds anyways since nobody can pawn the boon to them if they don't have the boon to pawn.)
So why are the characters not getting the creds listed for trading in the boon to BurgundyBear? That's the part that's confusing me.

The Society takes the creds like they take everything else you earn on assignment.
They put it towards the Heart Friend Forever boon, which can have a considerable credit value, if I'm remembering correctly.

If one or more PCs choose to part with their album,
cross off the Star Sugar Heartlove!!! boon from the associatedChronicle sheet
A crossed off chronicle sheet can't be crossed off for another effect.
|
|
Okay, so the cred value that's listed isn't actually a cred value, it's just a rep of getting the Heartfriends boon. Wish they wouldn't include it if it's not actually a sale value, especially since the amount changes by subtier but you get the same boon either way, that's the part that was confusing me. Makes it seem like I should either add or subtract that value if they do or don't complete it.

I think it's mostly for those that play the scenario in non-SFS play. All of the scenarios have elements of that. I think it's good overall because it lets people who run non-society home games have a wider choice of adventures to run, and less to have to come up with on their own.

It also lets the DM tell the party that that is a really really good trade, since not even the armory has the credit price of the official Strawberry Dressup holoskin or a strawberry machine cake doll set.

I ran this for Charli Poshkettle and her team on Wednesday!
Hmm insisted on singing a Starfinder song. So here's another one (to the tune of the Teen Titans theme).
When there's trouble, you know who to call (Starfinders!)
From Lorespire, they can see it all (Starfinders!)
When there's evil on the attack
You can rest knowing they got your back
Cause when Pact Worlds need heroes on patrol...
Starfinders, go!
Starfinders, go!
With their Venture Captains, they unite (Starfinders!)
Never met a villain that they liked (Starfinders!)
They got the Conspiracy on the run
They never stop until the job gets done
Cause when Absolom loses all control...
Starfinders, go!
Starfinders, go!
If your heart is black, you better watch out
You cannot escape the team
When they catch you, there won't be any doubt
You've been beaten by Exploration Extreme!
Beaten by Exploration Extreme!
S-t-a-r-f-i-n-d-e-r-s! Starfinders! Let's go!
S-t-a-r-f-i-n-d-e-r-s! Starfinders! Let's go!
S-t-a-r-f-i-n-d-e-r-s! Starfinders! Let's go!

When there's evil on the attack

Starfinders, go!
One, two, three, four, go!
Starfinders, go!

I cant wait to run this for my group! Been looking forward to a SMC adventure since it was first mentioned in the first adventure. Doubly excited to see the Nagaji hinted at in the adventure, though they seem smaller and a bit different from what were used to from pathfinder.
Not sure they're indicative of the size of the race in general. Tsuchi-ko might just be petite, and the other 3 are children.

If you are fine with paper pawns, you may be interested in the paper pawns I drew for the adventure, including the mech and the pink tank.

These are what I used. The tank was from a dollar store (glued to hold together without moving), and the mech is a re-based Heroclix (Detroit Hammer) both primed and then air-brushed pink, with other colors painted on afterwards.
Eleanor's pawns are also pretty awesome, and require a lot less work, though!

When it comes to "great stories you could really only tell in Starfinder" this scenario is among the first I start to mention in my sales pitch, I would love to see more like it.
I am pretty sure that it is among the top 5 scenarios you just HAVE to have played and I don't see that changing soon - though if we get even more amazing scenarios you can expect no complaints from me. ^^

That's a nice way to think about it. We still see a lot of "underground alien complex on a distant planet" that's not really much different than a Pathfinder dungeon. I'd like to see more work on stories that can only be told in a science-fantasy setting.
